Hello!I am Margaret, a Canadian WAHM to a little
boy and a little girl.My obsession
with cloth diapers began shortly after the birth of my first baby.My husband and I had decided to use cloth
for purely financial reasons, not realizing the peril to which we were exposing
ourselves.My obsession with newer,
cuter diapers and accessories was fueled by my ability to sew whatever I
wanted.
With the upcoming birth of
my second child, I suddenly had the perfect excuse to expand our diaper stash,
but I also had to come up with a diaper that would hang to dry quickly to keep
our small laundry room from being overwhelmed.I also wanted a diaper that would fit both my 2 ½ year old and my
newborn. This was the incentive for me
to develop the fantastic pocket fitted diapers that are available to you only
through my store!
About our Fabrics
All outer and inner fabrics are prewashed to remove any sizing and to preshrink. Hemp absorbent layers have been washed 3 times to preshrink. Although your diapers will become more absorbent as the hemp oils are washed out even further, your diapers can be worn as soon as you receive them.
Inner Fabrics
Alova Suedecloth
Alova Suedecloth is a
synthetic fabric that is a cross between suede and velvet.Because it is 100% polyester, it does not
absorb liquid, but lets it pass through and therefore acts as a stay-dry
layer.It does not stretch.
Buttersuede
Buttersuede is a wonderful
soft stretch sueded knit. Because it is 100% polyester, it does not absorb
liquid and therefore acts as a stay-dry layer. This fabric has approximately 40% stretch across the grain.
Aloba Suedecloth
Aloba Suedecloth is a
synthetic fabric similar to Buttersuede, but with no stretch.Because it is 100% polyester, it does not
absorb liquid, but lets it pass through and therefore acts as a stay-dry layer.
Panne Velour
Panne Velour is a synthetic
velour that is very soft and stretchy.Because it is 100% polyester, it does not absorb liquid, but lets it
pass through and therefore acts as a stay-dry layer.
Raw Silk
Raw Silk is a natural fabric
with slight imperfections of the weave in the fabric. The imperfections make raw silk stand out from machine made
fabrics.Raw silk has a smooth feel
with some bumps and a low luster.Raw
silk resembles cotton in surface texture. The nubby texture of the silk comes
from the use of very short fibers (called "silk noils") to weave the
fabric.When these short fibers are
spun into yarns, the resulting yarns have occasional loose ends. Although it is
a natural fabric, silk does not hold a great deal of liquid making it almost a
stay-dry fabric.It is wonderful for
babies with very sensitive skin.This
fabric has no stretch.
Outer Fabrics
Cotton Wovens
Cotton Woven fabrics come in
many fantastic prints and colours.Although they are natural fibres, the cotton woven fabrics used in the
construction of our diapers cannot be considered to be absorbant layers. The advantage of cotton woven fabrics is the
wide variety of colours and prints available. The disadvantage is that with frequent washing, some prints and colours
(particularly dark ones) may fade significantly.Cotton Wovens do not stretch.
Polyester Cotton Wovens
Polyester Cotton Wovens are
similar to Cotton Wovens, although they tend to fade slightly less often.
Polyester Cotton Knits
Polyester Cotton Knits also
come in many colours and prints. The
advantage of knit fabrics is the fact that they have a significant amount of
stretch.The disadvantage is that they
may pill with frequent washing.
Spandex
Spandex comes in many
brilliant colours and patterns.It has
significant stretch and colours do not fade. The disadvantage is that with frequent drying in the dryer, the fabric
may break down.Diapers made with a
spandex outer should not be dried in the dryer. We also recommend against the use of covers with hook and loop
tape with spandex outer diapers.
