No Tie Mei Tai™ Wearing Instructions

Front Carry:

Step 1 With the outer print facing you, notice the upside down Hibiscus Baby logo on the lower left hand strap.
Step 2 Flip the NTMT completely upside down and buckle the mei tai around your waist. The Hibiscus Baby logo should now be right side up on your right hip/waist. Adjust as needed by pulling on the straps.
Step 3 Place baby inside the carrier, either with legs folded like frog legs (for newborns), or with legs on each hip. Place the straps over each shoulder one at a time, using your opposite hand to HOLD ONTO YOUR BABY.

Step 4 With one hand on baby AT ALL TIMES, reach behind you and grab the strap opposite to your free hand. Bring to the front and while holding on to the strap, switch hands supporting baby.
Repeat step 4 for the opposite side and buckle. The straps should now be crossed over your back.
Step 5 Tighten as necessary

Back (Rucksack) Carry:

CAUTION- please use this carry at your own discretion.
I waited until my children could hold their heads up WELL (6mo)

Step 3 aStep 3 Hold baby on your hips and slide him/her up onto your back, leaning forward slightly to support baby's weight. (You may wish to do this over your bed, or while kneeling on the floor the first few times you try this)
step 4Step 4 With one hand on baby, use your other hand to reach behind you and pick the body panel up and bring the straps over each shoulder to your front.
step 5Step 5 You may now either cross the straps over your chest, or bring them straight down rucksack style
Step 6 Buckle under baby's bum and tighten as necessary

Forward Facing Front Carry

Step 1 un-snap the bottom four snaps
Step 2 fold the now loose bottom corners inward as far as they will go, the bottom edge will slant upward a bit when you do this
Step 3 Now, take the MT with folded corners, and buckle around your waist as usual, this will keep the corners folded in
Step 4 Place baby in carrier facing forward and apply shoulder straps as usual
Step 5 Bring straps to front under the legs, and buckle under baby's bottom

Helpful Hints


Correctly applied NTMT The most common mistake when wearing the NTMT is incorrectly buckling the waist straps. The photo to the left demonstrates how the waist straps should be flipped upward to create a pocket for babyincorrect NTMTMany first time users fail to do this, as seen in the photo at left
