Uploading your listings to Google Base

  • So first of all, what is Google Base?

Google Base is a searchable directory of products and services. Promoting your items on Google Base gives shoppers another way to find your great products.

  • OK, so how do I upload my HC listings on to Google Base?

Log in to your vendor pages and go to Promote >> Google Base. You will see a page with your active listings. Click the "Generate file" button. You will be asked to download a file called "all_products.xml" to your computer. Do this, making note of where you save the file.

  • Now you'll need to sign-up for a Google account, if you don't already have one, and a Google Base account. Go to the Google Base main page and click "Data Feed"

  • The first time you sign in, you'll need to define some account settings. Enter your info as shown below, making sure to set your "Date feed filename" as "all_products.xml"

  • After this, you'll be taken to a page where you enter your website and other pertinent information. Finally, you'll be taken to the "Data feeds" page. Click on "Manual: upload file" and browse to the "all_products.xml" file on your hard drive.

  • It can take up to an hour for your file to be processed. Keep checking back, and hopefully you'll get the green "Success" status.

  • You can confirm that the listings are correct by clicking on "Active items".

  • Now your items are listed in the Google Base product directory! Your Google Base listings will be active for a month. You can refresh your list every month, or whenever your listings have changed significantly.
