The Arum Lily Fairy is inspired by the book of poems by Antjie Krog called Fynbos Fairies and illustrated by Fiona Moodie. This book celebrates the local Cape flora in South Africa known as Fynbos. The arum lily is one of my favourite flowers.
She is 15" tall but very petite with a 6" waist. She has a little bottom, fixed legs, belly button and button-jointed arms. Inside her torso is a small piece of rose quartz.
She is made from cotton interlock and stuffed with pure South African sheep's wool.
Her hair is TLS and has a hint of pink.
She is wearing:
A pair of knitted French knickers with crochet border in green bamboo with purple satin ribbon tie.
A green velvet sleeveless dress that is fully lined with green satin, ties up with a button at one shoulder and has a pleated tulle detail in white at the hem with sequined gold trim.
Her coat is made from vintage embossed cotton and lined with green satin. It has yellow velvet ribbon trim.
She wears a velvet crown with trim that matches her dress.
Her crochet Mary Jane shoes are made with green bamboo yarn.
Her yellow wings are very delicate, attached to her coat, and made from layers of organza and horsehair tulle with machine embroidery detail.
She is not suitable for younger children due to the button joint construction and the delicate clothing and therefore recommended for age seven and up.
