Giocare & Amare Dollworks

Rowan - Bellarina cloth doll

Rowan is an 11-12 inch OOAK Giocare & Amare Bellarina style cloth doll made by me and inspired by the Waldorf tradition of doll making.  Bellarinas love to dance and are particularly fond of ballet.

Rowan was born under a red star and with true-true red hair. Some say she was named after the Rowan tree while others say she was named Rowan for her little stature and red hair ('Rowan' meaning little red). However, she will say that the Rowan is her name because she loves to smile big and laugh bright and dance large; and that the sound of her name is the whisper of a song heard on the wind.

Can you tell she is quite the romantic. Maybe this is why Valentine's Day is her favorite day of the year and she loves the color red and she loves to eat "chocolat" as she says in French.

Rowan is made of oko-tex certified cotton tricot imported from Switzerland and stuffed with clean, carded wool. She has a slightly sculpted face as well as a sculpted belly button, bum and knees.  Her blue eyes and mouth are embroidered cotton floss and her cheeks are blushed with bees wax crayon.  Her hair is a wig made of mohair weft and mohair yarn and securely sewn down.  Her hair may be gently styled in many different ways.

Rowan comes with a cotton leotard with ruffle trim and glass seed bead detail, a tutu made of liberty cotton lawn, tulle, and silk, a knit ballet sweater and knit ballet shoes both made from OOAK hand dyed Phydeaux Design super soft meriono wool yarn.

This is a collectable doll and is not recommended for small children

Rowan was loving made for play and love.
