thanks for visiting The Leaf Shoppe. my name is lori and i'm married to a goofy guy who always makes me laugh, and two kiddos who fill me with joy and make me giggle and beam with pride one moment, and pull my hair out the next. jasper will be 4 in december, and millie just turned 2 in september. we live in the far northwest burbs of chicago, a mere 10 minutes from the wisconsin border.

alfabette zoope in its original incarnation is actually a website i started way back in 1994 and tinkered with throughout the rest of college and several years beyond. it was my place to let my creative juices flow in a way not constrained by clients or deadlines or any of that stuff i had to deal with in my career as a graphic and web designer. it seems fitting that i use the name for this new endeavor as i rekindle some of that same creative energy through batik, dyeing, handpainting, and otherwise embellishing clothing. decorating clothing is something i used to do all the time in high school and college, and had been just waiting for an excuse to get back into it. combining this with my love for the cd'ing community and my addiction to seeking out cute wool seemed a natural match.

i also work from home part-time for a longtime client in the music business doing web design, html, fan club coordination, and fulfillment for his online store. i also occasionally design and/or build websites for friends.

i'm thrilled to be stocking my latest creations with this great group of mamas here at The Leaf Shoppe. we've all become very close on a messageboard over the past few years and i can't think of a more creative or supportive group of women to collaborate with.
