Washing Care
Fitteds/inserts
Fitted inserts and the inner lining of the fitteds are made of bamboo and will need to be prepped(washed and dried) 5-6 times to achieve maximum absorbency. After prepping, these fitteds can be washed with your other diapers following your personal routine.
There are many contradictions when it comes to washing diapers. My system is not always the most popular, but because I chose cloth for environmental reasons, my wash routine coincides with those reasons. I am not saying any one way is right. In fact, I believe each family needs to experiment and tweak until they find a system that works for them. What works for one family may not work for another. All that said, here is how I wash my Patty Pants fitteds:
1. Cold rinse, sometimes with a splash of vinegar. 2. Hot wash with a free and clear detergent. I like Costco brand, All, and Purex (all of these are not considered cloth friendly detergent, but they are all that has worked for us. I also use the recommended amount on the detergent bottle.) 3. Line dry or dry in dryer, weather permitting. Yes, I don't do an extra rinse like many recommend. It has made no difference to us and I like to conserve water. This may not work for you.
If you have any questions, please feel free to email me at pattypantscloth@yahoo.com. I know my routine is not exactly considered great for cloth diapers, but we've never had any issues with our diapers and its been 14 months. It is important to me to remain honest to my customers and help them any way I can.
