These diapers can be worn right out of the bag! The soaker materials are washed in what was my Diaper detergant (Tide original or All free and clear) If you have detergant issues you may however want to do a wash. The shells are heat re-sealed before they ship so you are welcome to put them right one. The Oils in the Hemp can seep into the matieral of other diapers-such as microfibers, that it is washed with, and cause them to repell. It is therefore often advised that you try to keep them seperate for the first couple washes, however I would use your discretion at that. I never had any issues with this, and I would not suspect one diaper to be a problem, but if you get a big batch you might want to be cautious. If your others diapers are also natural fibers however, there would not be an issue.
While hemp and Bamboo are naturally super absorbent, they will reach maximum effectiveness after 6-10 washes. Keep that in mind when you first use your new diaper. Although you can pop it right on, you may not want to immediately use it for long periods until it is well prepped. ;-)
After the intial prep you can add them to your normal wash routine. You can dry them, but use Low/Med or Med heat . You can do occasional Med/high if you need to reseal them every now and again.
