Different kinds of wool

The most common type of wool sweater is made from sheep's wool. The most popular is the Merino wool which mainly comes from the merino sheep in Australia and New Zealand. The merino wool sweaters have very fine and soft texture, great breathability, better moisture control and itch free which are suitable to wear for those with sensitive skin.

Another popular type is the Shetland wool sweater which is made from the Shetland wool produced by the sheep in Shetland Isles. This wool usually made high quality knitted sweater, for example cable knit sweater which provides good warmth protection and it is very light weight.

The softest and highest quality of sheep's wool is the lambswool. It is taken from the first shearing of a lamb when it is around six to seven months old. The lambswool makes a superior soft, smooth and lightweight sweater which allows easy movement of the body without clinging onto it when wearing.

The alpaca wool is mainly taken from the Suri Alpaca and Huacaya species which are a member of camelid family. The alpaca wool is very lightweight, fine and silky which is great to make as sweater. It make strong quality and durable sweater which is not easy to pill when worn.

The cashmere sweater is one of the highest quality types of sweater as it is made from cashmere wool which is taken from the cashmere domestic goats. It is largely produced in China, Mongolia, Pakistan, India, Turkey and Afghanistan. The cashmere wool has a silky and luxurious touch which makes the cashmere sweater a unique quality and expensively priced.

The angora sweater made from the Angora rabbit's wool. It is well known for its softness quality, fluffy texture and the ability to repel moisture and retain heat. The fluffy angora sweater coat is perfect to wear on winter months or on the coolest of days. Angora goats provide the wool for mohair sweaters.

The natural mohair wool is a luxurious and exceptionally beautiful fabric due to its variations of colors. The mohair sweater is extremely durable yet lightweight, soft and lustrous to feel, non pilling and non stretchy which make it easy to maintain and care.
