About Triquetra

Triquetra is owned and operated solely by me, Lauren. I use professional non toxic acid dyes and a variety of fibers. Along with my dye work, I also knit, spin, and sew. Occasionally, I offer hand knits, hand spun yarns, Waldorf dolls, and children’s clothing on my store.

All of my hand dyed items are acid and heat set, however, I strongly suggest setting the dye during first washing with one tablespoon of white vinegar, and wash separately for the first 5 washes, at least.

It is worth noting that I do not use design seeds (color cards), like many other dyers do. I create each colorway by creative process of inspiration, thought, altering, and finally producing. I do not fault other dyers for using design seeds, but it is important to me that my customers know each colorway of mine will be unique.

I have a serious passion for natural parenting. I have two beautiful children, and a wonderful husband. We live on the North Shore of Oahu, Hawaii. I have been knitting for 5 years, which gives me unique insight to the proper rotations of hand dyed yarns, as I can be sure that my colorways will not pool or produce unattractive fabrics. I am also in the testing phases of my first pattern design, which will be available soon.

Several years ago, I began dyeing fabrics and clothing. With my love for knitting and cloth diapering, this progressed naturally to dyeing yarns. Each skein of my yarn is unique, as only hand dyed can be, but I have found that different dye lots match quite well. My inspiration for colorways come from so many places: my home, beloved television series, old school video games, and more. I describe each inspiration in my store, although I will happily explain my inspiration, should you ask.

I do not do custom dyes for individuals. The reason for this is that my colorways are specifically inspired, and very dear to me. I don’t like to conform to the inspiration of others, as it would not be true to me personally. I do know many dyers who will do custom colorways based on request, and I can refer one to them if necessary. I hope that you will find that my colorways are inspiring to you, though!

I will propose custom colorways for coops and group buys, if the skein minimum is 5 skeins. Suggestions are welcomed, but may be amended to fit my expertise. I can order specialty or custom bases if necessary.

If you purchase a colorway from me and knit/crochet/weave it, please forward me a photo that I may use in my gallery! I will graciously offer 10% off your next purchase if you choose to do so.
