About Tickety Bu™
People have asked me, why Tickety Bu? Tickety Bu, also
spelled Tickety Boo and Tiggerty Boo, is a phrase that means,
"everything's alright". There is argument whether it originated in
England, Scotland or India and may have come from a Hindi expression
"tickee babu" which means "all alright". It seemed to fit why I use
cloth and why I started the company and honestly, I like the sound of
it. It harkens back to a simpler life, just the way things should be.
Tickety
Bu is the natural extension of what my life is about right now. Getting
back to basics, embracing the simpler, finer things in life and doing
what I enjoy.
I started cloth diapering when my first son was born early 2007. I started with pockets and quickly moved to AIOs, trying a
little of this and a little of that until I found the love of wool and
prefolds. What got me hooked was the simplicity of the prefold as a
diapering system and the softness and absorbancy of bamboo just can't
be beat. Add to that the fact that bamboo is a renewable resource and
it's the perfect diaper for our family.
I love to sew and was
already making our diapers, so I decided to marry my love of the
simple, yet elegant prefold with the superior functionality of bamboo
as a fabric and Tickety Bu was born. I offer prefolds in a variety of
bamboo fabrics—velour, terry and fleece, as well as wool and bamboo
blankets. Keep checking back as I add new products, but rest assured my
commitment to fabrics that are kind not only to your baby's skin but
the environment as well, and are easy for you to use, will always
remain.
It should be said that Tickety Bu would not be possible
without the support of three amazing women. This site is dedicated to
them and the inspiration they provide me with every day.
• My
mom, who taught me to sew when I was just a teen and gave me my first
sewing machine. She's always there to help me with any sewing related
challenge I face.
• My sister, who gave me the Cadillac of
sergers and is always available for long conversations about the merits
of various serger threads, or whatever else is on our minds.

Sarah, my friend who not only introduced me to the wonderful world of
cloth diapering, she explained it to me! She said I'd love prefolds, I
bet she never imagined just how much.
