At Thornbush Pens we try to minimize our impact on the environment by using many materials that are renewable resources. We also make pens and gifts from a variety of materials other than wood, such as acrylic, deer antler, and recycled newsprint. Our products are sanded to a very fine finish so that they are extremely smooth to the touch. Each and every one of our handturned items are crafted to be of the highest quality so that they will last more than a lifetime! Thornbush Pens products come with an informative description card, perfect for gift giving or for your own knowledge.

Caring for Your Pen or Handturned Item

Caring for your Pen or Other Handturned Item

Please keep your pen or handturned item out of direct sunlight.  Keep items out of extreme heat and cold and away from moisture.

Caring for your Rattle or Spinning Top

Wash with mild soapy water, rinse and dry immediately.  Do not leave immersed in water.  Additional coats of olive oil can be applied at any time, particularly when the wood begins to look dry.  Simply rub a generous amount of oil onto the wood with a soft, lint free cloth and allow to absorb.  Use a dry soft cloth to remove any excess oil.

Refills

All of our pens and pencils can be refilled with standard refills available at most stationery stores.

The following pens and pencils take Cross style refills:  Slimline, European, Designer, Saturn

The following pens and pencils take Parker style refills: Classic, Americana, Cigar

Refill instructions for Slimline, European, Designer and Saturn style pens:

Grasp the lower barrel in one hand and the upper barrel in your other hand and pull gently but firmly to separate.   Holding the lower barrel in one hand, unthread and remove the refill, set the new refill in place, and tighten.  Push the upper barrel back onto the transmission, lining up the wood grain in the upper and lower barrels.

Refill instructions for Classic, Americana, and Cigar style pens:

Grasp the lower barrel in one hand and turn the upper barrel counter-clockwise until the two pieces are free.  Holding the lower barrel in one hand, gently pull the cap until the refill is free.  Remove the spring from the tip of the refill, place it on the tip of the new refill and insert it into the lower barrel.  Thread the upper barrel back onto the lower barrel.
