Merlin Superwash Merino Fingering (AKA Kona) 100% superwash merino wool 4 ounce skein / 560 yards Gauge: 6-8 sts per inch, needle size US 2-4. Machine or hand wash, lay flat to dry

$24.00 per 4 oz skein
Discontinued - Armor SW BFL/Nylon Sock 80% superwash BFL (Blue Faced Leicester) wool / 20% Nylon 4 ounce skein / 408 yards Gauge: 6-8 sts per inch, needle size US 2-4. Machine or hand wash, lay flat to dry
Takes dye differently than merino wool and some colors will be lighter or a different tone when dyed with the exact same dye and technique. BFL is loved for its softness, slight sheen, and long staple length which creates a strong and durable yarn. Here it has been combined with Nylon for extra durability and long wear. These properties give this yarn a slightly stiffer feel than the cottony feel you may be accustomed to in merino. Enough for a typical pair of socks - and great for so many things! Perfect for those lace projects you've been wanting to try too. The color repeats on this base may be shorter as the mill these come from uses 36" skeins instead of the standard 72" skeins and I usually do not reskein them. If its important to you that it be the standard 72" skein please make sure to tell me :) $25.00 per 4 oz skein Discontinued - Mystic MCN (Merino/Cashmere/Nylon) Sport 80/10/10 Superwash Merino Wool/Cashmere/Nylon 4 ounce skein / 378 yards Gauge: 5.5-6 sts per inch, needle size US 4-6. Machine or hand wash, lay flat to dry
This is a very soft yarn with a very round spin to it. I love to have it on my needles, it's a real treat :) The undyed yarn has a slightly silvery gold sheen to it from the cashmere and nylon, which is slightly noticeable in any "natural" or "white" sections of colorways that include that. It can slightly change the colorways, or only some of the colors in a colorway by lending an extra depth or earthiness to the color's tone. It may be more noticeable in a color that is paler or less intense. I think it is really fabulous and many of my customers have commented that they don't want to use anything else from now on, LOL! The color repeats on this base may be shorter as the mill these come from uses 36" skeins instead of the standard 72" skeins and I usually do not reskein them. If its important to you that it be the standard 72" skein please make sure to tell me :) $26.50 per 4 oz skein Limited Edition! $24.00 per 4 oz skein Discontinued - Legend Single Ply Superwash Merino Worsted 100% Superwash Merino spun in a single ply 4 ounce skein / 225 yards Gauge: 4-5 sts per inch, needle size US 7-9. Machine or hand wash, lay flat to dry
Legend has been compared by my customers to a superwash version of the Malabrigo single ply yarn. I haven't actually used that yarn myself, but understand that to be a good comparison for the lightly spun super fluffy nature of this yarn. It is highly pet worthy and loves to grab color. This can lead to normally paler colors looking much bolder on this base. I try very hard to maintain as much similarity as possible from base to base, but expect that this one may be more intense in the way it takes color. I personally adore it! although I was initially hesitant to recommend even a superwash single ply be anything except hand washed, I have been assured by other dyers that this base wears and washes very well even when properly machine washed. The color repeats on this base may be shorter as the mill these come from uses 36" skeins instead of the standard 72" skeins and I usually do not reskein them. If its important to you that it be the standard 72" skein please make sure to tell me :) $25 per 4 oz skein Discontinued - Mystic MCN (Merino/Cashmere/Nylon) Aran 80/10/10 Superwash Merino Wool/Cashmere/Nylon 4 ounce skein / 200 yards Gauge: 4-5 sts per inch, needle size US 6-8. Camelot Worsted / Aran Merino Superwash (AKA Kona) 100% superwash merino wool 4 oz skein / 210 yards Gauge: 4-5 sts per inch, needle size US 6-8. Machine or hand wash, lay flat to dry
Very soft and smooth, takes dye very vibrantly. A round moderate twist yarn with nice drape. The yardage is equivalent to the yardage of Mountain Meadow Wool (for mental comparison, LOL!). More of a true worsted weight or Aran when compared with the Light Worsted / DK weights like Guinevere and Gaia. Perfect for many of the hoodie and sweater projects so popular right now! This is my most popular superwash base. $24.00 per 4 oz skein
Excaliber Bulky Superwash (AKA Kona) 100% superwash merino wool 4 oz skein / 106 yards Gauge: 3-4 sts per inch, needle size US 10-11. Machine or hand wash, lay flat to dry
A fabulous fluffy yarn for great quick projects. Great for all those fluffy scarves and hats as well as lots of other projects. Extremely soft, takes dye very vibrantly. It is highly pet worthy and loves to grab color. This can lead to normally paler colors looking much bolder on this base. I try very hard to maintain as much similarity as possible from base to base, but expect that this one may be more intense in the way it takes color. It feels like a superwash version of the Gaia Bulky if you've ever felt that :) $25.00 per 4 oz skein

Superwash Merino Top100% superwash merino wool Approximately 4 oz per chain Superwash Merino Top from Henry's Attic of New York is a soft billowy cloud of fibery goodness. Superwash tends to just suck the color in leaving very little (if any) white with less washed out colors. I just love it, and so far prefer dyeing it compared to non superwash fiber. It is still recommended that you hand wash yarn that is handspun from superwash fiber. Not for felting :) $20 per 4 oz chain
Superwash BFL Top100% superwash Blue Faced Leicester Approximately 4 oz per chain SuperwashBFL Top from Elitespun of Canada is a soft billowy cloud of fibery goodness. The long staple of BFL is loved by spinners for the easy spinning and the superwash process gives it a slicker feel in the hand which makes it even more of a treat to spin. It is a favorite of one of my my best and most talented customers - Paty of Paty's Loveys . Superwash tends to just suck the color in leaving very little (if any) white with less washed out colors. I just love it, and so far prefer dyeing it compared to non superwash fiber. It is still recommended that you hand wash yarn that is handspun from superwash fiber. Not for felting :) $21 per 4 oz chain
Discontinued - 80/20 Superwash Merino/Silk Top 80% superwash merino 20% Silk Approximately 4 oz per chain
New from Elitespun of Canada is a soft billowy cloud of fibery goodness. Superwash tends to just suck the color in leaving very little (if any) white with less washed out colors and the silk adds a lovely sheen and shimmer as it tends to take less dye, lending a slightly heathered effect to the overall colorway as seen in the photo above. I just love it, and so far prefer dyeing it compared to non superwash fiber. It is still recommended that you hand wash yarn that is handspun from superwash fiber. Not for felting :) $24 per 4 oz chain Discontinued - Mystic MCN 80/10/10 Top
80% Superwash Merino, 10% Cashmere, 10% Nylon Roving Approximately 4 oz per chain
New from Elitespun of Canada is a soft billowy cloud of fibery goodness. Superwash tends to just suck the color in leaving very little (if any) white with less washed out colors, the cashmere lends a luxurious softness, and the nylon helps to add strength and durability to the blend. Undyed the fiber has a slightly golden shimmer which seems faintly visible in any natural portions of the dyed fiber. I think it gives a lovely depth to the colors when its dyed as well. I just love it, and so far prefer dyeing it compared to non superwash fiber. It is still recommended that you hand wash yarn that is handspun from superwash fiber. Not for felting :) $24 per 4 oz chain
Non-Superwash Yarns
Licorice Twist Light Worsted / DK Merino 100% Merino wool (one ply is superwash merino wool) 4 oz skein / 280 yards Gauge: 5.5 sts per inch, needle size US 5-7. Hand wash, lay flat to dry
Very
soft and smooth, takes dye very interestingly with a candy cane effect
in reverse of the Spellbound. The overall colorway will be
lighter/softer as the superwash ply will suck the dye in faster as the
dye sets on the yarn. The superwash ply will be bolder, giving an almost
handspun tweedy effect to the final project made from the yarn. Yardage
is at the light end of worsted or the heavy end of DK weight. Perfect
for many of the hoodie and sweater projects so popular right now! $25.00 per 4 oz skein Organic Yarns from Henry's Attic in New York

Gaia Organic Merino Worsted 100% Organic merino 4 ounce skein / 280 yards Gauge: 4-5 sts per inch, needle size US 7-9 Hand wash, lay flat to dry
Yardage is at the light end of worsted or the heavy end of DK weight. A very smoothly plied, bouncy and well-defined Organic Merino yarn that is virtually free from any debris. Takes dye in a softer, lighter, and often warmer way. Always a customer favorite and dreamy to work with! I try to make my colorways as uniform as possible from base to base, and some of the more intense colorways will be close on this base, but it is fair to expect a lighter version of your colorway when dyed on any of the Gaia bases. $26 per 4 oz skein.
NEW! Gaia Organic Merino Aran 100% Organic merino 4 ounce skein / 210 yards Gauge: 4-5 sts per inch, needle size US 6-8 Hand wash, lay flat to dry
Yardage is a perfect Aran weight for all those gorgeous longies!

Naturally/Minimally Processed, humanely raised wool from Cestari Farms of Virginia
DISCONTINUED (Suggested substitute is Mountain Meadow Wool)
Cestari Fine Merino Aran 100% Fine Merino Wool 4 ounce skein / 195 yards Gauge: 4 sts per inch, needle size US 8 Hand wash, lay flat to dry
This heavy worsted/Aran weight, two ply merino has well defined plies and lies very smoothly. It is a very cottony feeling yarn that makes a thick fabric and has been described to me as a more "ropey" yarn to knit with. A soft and lanolin rich with minimal amounts of small bits of grass. It is very fun to work with and takes dye in a clear, rich way. While generally I expect non-superwash yarns to dye more lightly than their superwash counterparts - some actually colorways/colors appear darker or more earthy on this base. $27.00 per 4 oz skein

Mountain Meadow Rambouillet Merino Worsted 2 ply 100% Wyoming small farm rambouillet merino wool, green processed 3.5 oz skein / 184 yards Gauge: 4-5 sts per inch, needle size US 6.8. Hand wash, lay flat to dry
This base has quickly become the favorite of our non-superwash line! Similar though slightly lighter weight than Cestari, it has perhaps even greater durability - without jeopardizing softness! I have heard rumor this can even be washed on delicate in the machine, but as I don't have any "guarantee" I can't recommend it. This is what I call "magic yarn", similar to BBR where the yardage is very misleading. It has so much spring to it that it just seems to go on forever. I once made a pair of 13 inch inseam longies for my son and only used just over 7 ounces! Crazy!! Of the non-superwash yarns I would say that this one takes colors more "true" to the superwash yarns. There is still variance and some colors have an earthier quality on this base or may even be deeper while there is sometimes some heathering because the high lanolin content seems to occasionally repel some of the dye. This is the only base I carry that is 3.5 oz instead of 4 oz but honestly it looks, feels and works up like it is 4 oz (that is the magic part). If you are choosing a dapple dyed colorway or mosaic dyed colorway and want a non-superwash yarn I would recommend this base as colors are more likely to stay where they are put and blend less than on other non-superwash yarns.
Read more about this wonderful company here. They also return 10% of their profit from the sale of the yarn to the rancher who provided the wool. $26.00 per 3.5 oz skein
