FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions….

Why bamboo & what are the differences between them all?
Bamboo is a fabulous choice for diapering. It's antimicrobial and hypoallergenic, so it's perfect for those sensitive bums, and it's 3-4 times more absorbent than cotton. Plus it's 100% biodegradable and a quick growing sustainable resource.

Here are some of the pro's & con's about each from my experience...

bamboo velour
Squishy, silky, and luxuriously soft with a deep pile, it makes a heavenly diaper. Super easy to pin, they just slide right through with no effort. I have not experienced any pin holes on my bamboo velour. Very stretchy.
One drawback is that it doesn't stay so silky soft after multiple washings; it tends to feel more like terry cloth after a while. Still soft, just not as luscious.

bamboo fleece
Fleece doesn't have the thick, silky fibers that velour has, however, this is unlike any fleece you've ever felt. It's soft and drapey, light weight and trim. The most absorbent of all the bamboo fabrics. An excellent choice for heavy wetters & night-time diapers.
Bamboo fleece is not as stretchy as the velour and terry. Pins will leave holes.  Not suitable for flats.

bamboo terry
Thick, soft loops make the terry nearly as absorbent as the fleece. Very stretchy and does not get pin holes.  Easy to snappi, easy to pin.

Can I send you my own knits for customs and is there a discount?
Yes.  I'm happy to make your diapers using your knit prints on customs.  I discount $3 for each print sent to me.  Fabrics sent to be used as a center panel receive no discount.

What is your return policy?
I know you have lots of choices when it comes to the cloth you put on your baby & I really appreciate that you're considering my diapers.
My diapers come with a 10 day 100% money back guarantee.  Wash one and use it.  I'm sure you're going to love it.  But if you're dissatisfied with the craftsmanship or the quality, return it for a full refund (including all shipping charges).
One washed & worn diaper can be returned, the rest must be unwashed & unworn to qualify for a refund.  Please wash the used diaper before returning it!

What covers work well with your diapers?
We mostly use wool but when we need a PUL cover we have a variety we choose from....Thirsties, Bummi's Super Whisper and Super Snap Wraps, Imse Vimse, Wiggle Worm Bottoms, they all work great.

What's the wash routine with these & do I need to do multiple prep washes?
All of our materials are washed multiple times so there's no need for a lot of prep washing.  Wash 'em once and they're ready to go!
The basic wash routine goes like this....cold water rinse, long hot wash, cold water rinse.  Hang dry or tumble dry on low heat.  Easy peasy.

Will snappi's or pins cause holes in my diaper?
It is possible that this will happen (if your diaper has a bamboo fleece inner, holes are almost inevitable if pins are used).  If you get a small hole in the fabric of your diaper a little dot of Fray Check (made by Dritz and available in any fabric or arts and crafts store, and in many drug stores) will keep it from getting bigger or running.

Where did the name come from; what does it mean?
My husband thought of the name scuttlebutts, he's clever like that.  'Scuttlebutt' is a sailors term meaning gossip or rumors.  Hang around on any cloth diapering board long enough and you know there's a lot of gossip going around.  ;)

I have a broken snap, shot elastic, etc.  What are my options?
Email me.

I have a scuttlebutts that is sized with snaps.  Do you still make these?
Yes, I just don't stock them right now.  Front snapping sized diapers can be custom ordered.

Do you wholesale or co-op?
Not right now.

I have a question that's not on here.
Email me :)
