Custom Embroidery Questions and Answers
Q: How does a custom embroidery slot work?
A: Custom slots are really quite simple. Simply pay $5 as a down payment and to hold your slot. Then choose a design from our library and run it by me to make sure that it is suitable to embroider on the item you're planning to use. Once a design has been chosen, mail your item to the address that I give to you. When packing up your item, make sure to include a note with your return address and design you wish you have embroidered. On the day that you mail your item, I ask that you also send the remainder of the payment (cost of embroidery plus s/h costs, minus $5 deposit) so that I may begin work as soon as your item arrives in my mailbox. When you mail your item I can give you a better estimate on how long it will take to get your item done. Depending on how many other slots I have, it can take anywhere from a couple days to a week!
Q: What kind of diapers do you embroider?
A: Currently I accept Bum Genius 3.0's, Happy Heiny's, Fuzzi Bunz, Berry Plush, Haute Pockets, Blueberries, Goodmamas, Patooshie Pants, Piddle Poddles, Mutts, and certain PUL covers, including Thirsties and Bummis. I can also do prefolds. If you're interested in having a diaper embroidered that is not on this list, please ask and I will let you know whether or not I can do it.
Q: How do you keep my embroidered pocket diapers from leaking?
A: For pockets, AIO's and PUL covers, I enclose all embroidery backing in a sewn shut pocket of PUL. This ensures that your diaper remains completely waterproof!
Q: Does embroidery on fitted diapers effect the absorbency?
A: Since these designs are all placed on the rear end of the diaper, they aren't in a high wetzone area. I have boys, so I cannot say what it's like for girls, but we have not had problems with absorbency issues with our embroidered Goodmamas, and I've not heard any complaints from the mamas who have had their girlie diapers done! If you find that you have absorbency issues, please let me know.
Q: Will embroidery make the back of my diaper feel stiff?
A: This depends on the type of design. If you have a design that is small or doesn't completely cover full areas of the diaper in stitches, then you'll notice very little stiffness. If you are talking about a large design, however, there will be some stiffness, but it will not effect the comfort of your child.
Q: Will the back of the embroidery rub against my child?
A: No, it won't. For pocket and AIO's, the embroidery backing will be completely enclosed in PUL. For fitted diapers, the back is covered by a snap in soaker. For prefolds and diapers with no lay in or snap in soakers, I have soft iron-on embroidery backing that is commonly used in children's clothing to protect young skin.
Q: Can you change colors in the embroidery designs?
A: Yes I can! Simply include color changes in the note that you send with your diapers.
Q: I would like custom wording embroidered. Can you do that?
A. Yes, I can also do custom wording. Charges will be based on the number and size of letters used. I only have a few fonts to choose from at this point, but I will be expanding as I am able!
Q: I'm looking for a certain embroidery design, but you don't have what I'm looking for. Can you find one for me?
A: This depends on what you're looking for. I will not do any images that are trademarked. I know that other diaper embroiderers do, but I won't. If you're looking for a general design, such as a guitar, and I don't have what you want, please ask. I can often times find a design that will suit your needs. For special order designs, I charge a few extra bucks, to offset the cost of purchasing the design for your use. Actual price will depend on the cost of the embroidery image you select.
Q: What happens if you ruin my diaper?
A: With over 13 years experience with an embroidery machine, mistakes
are rare, but they do happen from time to time. If I ruin your diaper,
I will gladly reimburse you the fair market value of the diaper lost,
plus refund the cost of the embroidery. If the mistake is small, or if
you are not totally satisfied with the results, I will send you a gift
certificate good for anything in my store.
Q: Can you embroider other things than diapers?
A: Yes, I can embroider a large number of things, including onesies, teeshirts, sweatshirts, burp cloths, towels, blankets, etc. If you're not sure whether or not I can do it, just ask!
