Custom dyeing policies

I use only professional dyes and detergents for my creations. I will not settle for lower quality materials and neither should you.

I dye primarily using a resist based technique called Low Water Immersion, which creates a nice crackling effect. I can also do solid color dyeing and tie dye as well.

Dyeing is an art, and not an exact science, and the nature of the dye process is such that no two pieces are ever exactly alike. I can use similar colors from past creations, but please remember this when ordering.

All orders must be paid in full before work begins, and there are no refunds on custom items.

I will work with you to find the perfect color combinations to suit your items. You may choose from any of the dye colors that I have on hand, or select a color for me to order, at an additional cost.
Please be aware that items dyed multiple colors will have some blending, so for example using blue and orange together will give you some brown, yellow and red will give you some orange, etc.

I can only dye items made from plant based (cellulose) or animal fibers (protein) such as cotton, hemp, bamboo, silk and wool. Synthetic fibers do not take dye, so if your item is a blend of these, the dominant fiber needs to be natural.

When done properly, the dyeing process adds very little wear to an item, not more than a few extra washes. This goes for clothing, diapers, and textiles.
I am not responsible for the workmanship of these items, only the colors. Please be aware that dyeing is considered an aftermarket addition, and may void the warranty given by the manufacturer. It is your responsibility to read and review those policies and make the decision for yourself.
I prefer to only dye items in new or very excellent used condition, as newer fabrics take dyes better

I am more than happy to dye items that you already own- clothing, diapers, fabric, yarn and just about any other item you can think of.

My prices for this vary, depending on fiber content, size and type of dyeing requested. I charge a minimum of $5 for any item sent to me to dye, this is to cover the cost of dyes and water and electricity needed. There are certain fabrics that take more dye than others, and will be priced accordingly.

Here is some basic pricing for items sent to me. This is not by any means all the things that I will dye, just the most commonly requested.

Shirts- generally $5-15 each, depending on size, fiber content and type of dyeing requested. Adult sized items and plus sizes will be slightly higher.

Bed sheets- Price is for 3 pcs (fitted sheet, flat sheet, and one pillowcase):
Twin: $20
Full: $25
Queen: $30
King/CA King: $35

Prefolds-
DSQ cotton or hemp: $2 each for preemie and infant, $3 each for larger sizes, with a minimum of three dyed.
Cotton or bamboo velour, add $2.

Fitted diapers- for diapers primarily made of cotton or hemp, pricing will be between $8-10 each, depending on the size and method of dyeing requested.
Diapers made from cotton or bamboo velour will be $10-15 dollars, as these materials use more dye and water.

Yarn- $3 per oz
