|
|
I have had some thoughts in regards to the thread about drops in sales on HC ect... and now most sellers get their sales on ETSY.
I know for myself, I buy most of my handmade on ETSY now. I do some trades here, but I buy most things from ETSY. That is not because I would rather shop there.
That being said, I really want to support HC and I want to make a valiant effort to buy some stuff here if possible. So, what do you wish was on HC? I was thinking perhaps if we make a list of what we buy on ETSY that we wish was here, others may be able to post links to some of those items that are actually on HC. (It might inspire some sellers to stock those items too) I might not know I can find instock cute 5T shirts on HC.
I wish I could find on HC:
more instock 5T boy shirts
almond biscotti CP soap
wool slippers similar to this style http://www.etsy.com/listing/90562218/felted-black-wool-womens-slippers-sz-7-8
Swimbags (made with swimming in mind) enough room for towels, lots of pockets ect...
Handmade belts
sturdy lunch bags for adults
So, what do you buy elsewhere that you wish you could buy here? _________________ Erin

Oh, good idea!
Okay, mostly on Etsy I buy a lot of supplies (fabric, crochet patterns, digital downloads etc) but as far as actual handmade goods, I'd like to see some:
Artwork (paintings & drawings etc)
Tie dye clothes (womens & kids/teens)
Doll clothes for mainstream dolls (like American Girl)
Stuff for guys (like older tween boys & men) things like handcarved whistles, compasses, shaving mugs and beer soaps come to mind, but I'd be open to guy stuff of all kinds. Sometimes I can find these items, but I'd like to see more of a selection or at least more regular stockings.

Definitely more art! Tye dye for older kids and adults would be great too. Adult slip on slippers or mocassins, toys for older kids (art kits etc). _________________ Genevieve

This is a good thread. I have several of these items but I haven't had time to put them up here; they are over at my Artfire.com store.
Here is what I have:
Dresses from sz 6mo-5T; sundresses, peasant, halter pillowcase
Skirts for little girls sz 3-8
18" (ie American Girl Doll) Clothes
If you are interested, check out my Artfire.com Store (http://www.artfire.com/ext/shop/studio/TEJA). I will be more than happy to move items over here if you would like me to! _________________ SAHM mommy to Thomas (12), Twinnies Erika and Julia (7), and Andrew (2)

The only thing I can come up with at the moment is maybe something that would be good for toddlers/children to do on long car trips or flights. Maybe there are some, but I'm just not hugely aware of them.
Jody, regarding the knit items you'd like to see for older kids and the knit earwarmers you were hoping to have found, I'm sure if you contact any of us knitters, we would be happy to work with you on custom items (at least I know I would be happy to do so). _________________ ~Mary, Mom to N, grandma to R (10/08), E (4/11)

Kaylene makes all sorts of magnets. I "think" she is opening a store soon too. I know she does customs via PM. _________________ Erin

My last few Etsy purchases (besides fabric and other supplies) have been :
Felted items (Easter eggs, animals, acorns)
Women's Hats
Party Invitations & Supplies
Women's Hair Accessories/Clips
Boot socks
An apron (cause I'm too lazy to make my own, LOL)
Wooden Toys
Typography/Subway Signs like these: http://www.etsy.com/shop/barnowlprimitives/sold
It was also interesting to see that I had purchased from a lot of HC people on Etsy. I don't recall the specifics of why on each one, but I suspect it was due to better selection or ease in finding what I needed, as opposed to waiting for a stocking. _________________ Kate

Lately I have bought Waldorf doll clothes on etsy, adult hair clips (meaning they aren't tiny or overly child cutesy) and am about to order a PECS system. I don't shop a ton but I go n spurts and am finding way more options at etsy. Though I have to say I am very loyal and always check here first. _________________
