I dislike one size diapers with a passion! I can do a two sizer, but a one size that can go from newborn to large annoys me to no end.
But they are EVERYWHERE!!!! Everyone is making them? What is up with that? What's wrong with sized diapers? When did this trend start?
I don't need many diapers and the only 'stash' size I was looking for was smalls and I'm good on those now... but every baby deserves a little new fluff!
So I've been watching for cute GN diapers or sets - but everything I see is one size!
Anyway, not really looking for spam, just looking for some insight into this trend! |

I totally feel your pain! I absolutely could not do OS with Annie... she was just too tiny and petite and nothing ever fit. I had plenty of sized NB and smalls with Piper but once she was out of those which was pretty fast cause she is a total different kiddo, we used alot of the OS.
I think the sizes are still out there... you just have to search harder or have them custom made. Good Luck! I miss buying fluff. _________________ ~Sam Trent

I totally agree - DD2 is super long and already outgrowing her one-size pocket diaper in the rise, while she's still on the tightest or second tightest snaps. So frustrating! _________________ Allison

I think the OS trend really started when the economy tanked. People just didn't have as much money to spend on a stash. I used OS with baby boy for a while but he grew so fast that I had to unsnap the rise all the way and the snaps started pressing into his fat legs. _________________ Amanda, wife of 1, mom of 5

It's more economical, but I like my babes to get new fluff! I've stuck with sized diapers. _________________ Jessica~WAHM to Julianne 5-19-07, Jocelyn 8-10-08 & our new sweet baby Jacqueline 12-30-10

I noticed that when my YDD was born almost 3 years ago. I was so glad I had stash left from my older 2. I think it has only gotten worse since then. And for me, I don't like the fit of OS diapers until 13-14 pounds. And even then, I think they are too bulky. But, my kiddos could all wear mediums from that size until they PL'd. So, yeah.... so not a OS diaper fan. Not a fan at all! But, it does seem that's what is what nowadays... _________________ Heather , mommy to Ella 11/14/04, Jackie 3/30/06, and Lily 9/18/09

I couldn't agree more. Tulia had so many fantastic diapers, and it wasn't bad when Macario was first born. This past year all I've seen is one size, blech!
I gave up on trying to find him larges and pretty much just went to trainers since we are pl'ing anyway. I do miss cute fluff though. _________________ ~ Bj ~ SAHM to 8 wild and crazy kids

I bet that's it. I mean the average price is about $30.00 so they are by no means 'cheap' but when you consider they 'last' till potty training - I guess they are an investment. But I'd NEVER be able to put one on one of my babes. Stella was a tadpole of a thing. Heavy, but SKINNY!!!! Piper was a chubba wubba but way long! It would never work, OS would never be an option for someone like me and I'd end up using sposies.
So to my size diaper makers - hang tough! |

I have been lucky that both my two that used OS dipes were able to wear them fine. They can be bulky, but I've been able to use them. I liked having them be able to wear them for so long, but like Heather, my two could also wear mediums forever, as well. So I invested in OS dipes, mainly because I could, but also, because there weren't many sized ones around at the time. _________________ Shannon, wahm to 7

I decided to make some of my own dipes for this baby, though, for the newborn/small stage, to get me through. I can't afford a stash for that size! I can make a $2 diaper in not much time, but I can't afford $10-20 for a newborn wahm made one right now. _________________ Shannon, wahm to 7

I agree with the economy factor. Plus it's much easier to produce just one diaper for the maker, another economy consideration.
I always liked multi sized diapers, better. Nowadays one diaper costs over $25, though. When I made my multi size diapers in 2003 to 2006 they were $15 to $18 each. I'm considering making them again soon, but they are going to have to be priced higher now. People also want turned and top stitched and hidden snaps which are also more labor intensive. _________________ Karen

I don't make OS diapers because I always disliked them with Holden - they were ginormous and never fit him when he was newborn/small, then even when he was a bit older and fat, he was really short and they didn't fit right either. of course, they fit my then 4 year old fine - but she potty trained at under 2 so that was of no help to me, lol. _________________ ~Bonnie~

My very chubby babies fit nicely into OS diapers from about 1 month until potty training, so they were an awesome deal for me. That is one reason I make them.
The other reason is that the sized ones were not selling at all. Storing all the sized ones that I had in stock was taking up too much space and costing me too much money, so I switched to selling only OS, which I can't keep in stock most of the time anymore. _________________ Margaret

My OS stash of Dream Diaper got Emerson through 4 years of diapers. But Drake has no butt, LOL! I have found that Grovias and Rockin Robbies fit perfectly though. I hate having to constantly buy a whole new stash since my kiddos grow really fast. Drake zoomed up from 7 1/2 lbs to almost 30 lbs by 10 months. I'd have had to buy a whole new stash several times. Too much $$. I can still use almost all Emerson's OS diapers for Drake too - so over 5 years with the same stash and two kids. But Mr No-booty doesn't fit as well into some of them, LOL! I personally despise sized diapers, LOL! _________________ ~Melissa
