|

Hey,
I have had making family cloth on my To Do list for so long now, and after being sent to the store to buy more TP, I've decided it needs to move to the top of the list, lol.
For those of you already using family cloth, what do you like? Flannel, hemp, obv? We've never used family cloth before (besides flannel wipes on baby when we cloth diapered), so any suggestions or pros/cons for fabric types would be greatly appreciated.
TIA |

I wish I could chime in here.... lol.... Sadly I brought the idea up to my dh and I won't repeat what he said, but the look on his face was sort of: LOL _________________ Rikki - Momma to Brent, Kayla, Alessandra, TJ, Christopher, Ethan, Darius, Makenzi, and Damien

I didn't get quite the same reaction from DH but he's not on board either. He says it's fine with him if everyone else in the house is using them, but he thinks it's a "best used for pee" item and so he won't be needing them, lol. |

We use a combo of organic cotton velour or OBV and organic french terry . I made them big enough in a circle and both kids love them. DH doesn't use them, and honestly I don't feel like washing his poopy wipes, LOL. We use them occasionally, but with a new baby coming and a diaper pail right in the bathroom we're going to start using them more. _________________ Genevieve

We use OBV, OCV, sherpa, BKT, and cotton velour squares. Nothing fancy at all. My Elflings will always use the OBV then OCV squares first... in that order.
We have TP in the house still, but mostly because my Mister doesn't want cloth and we get company on occasion. TP lasts a lo-oooo-ong time around here now, when it never used to with 5 girls (including myself) and a guy. _________________ Denise/Veggiewitch Lucky Mama to 4 Elflings

My favorite combo is cotton sherpa/cotton velour. We also prefer them 8x8 and not the typical smaller 4X6 size. _________________ Crystal WAHM to Emma & Liam, loving wife to Scott.

When we decided to try using it, we just used the 8X8 cloth aby wipes we already had. Most are flannel/flannel, but I'd gotten a few that were flannel/terry (cotton I think), and I got some for an HC$ auction that are some kind of velour and sherpa fleece (I think). I like the "fancier" ones, but just plain old flannel/flannel would work for us too.
When I very first brought up the idea of FC, DH wasn't thrilled, but said I could if I wanted and also thought it would be mainly for pee. He has since become a convert. I hate it when I'm a little late with laundry and run out.
We still have TP in the house, but it lasts sooooo much longer than it ever did before. _________________ Kristina, wife to Ben, homeschooling, SAHM to 5 beautiful kids.

The girls and I use them for pee, I use them for my cycle and my younger boys use them for poo (and pee too in the case of the baby). Hubby and our oldest son don't and I am great with that. Ours are flannel/velour mainly, a few knit/bv and flannel/ Sherpa mixed in. The youngest two use 8x8, the girls and I use 5x7. _________________

I love OBV at first, but it loses it's luster very quickly. So that's second favorite. But organic cotton velour and sherpa is my favorite and it last forever!
Me and the girls use them everytime we go... Damon won't even consider it. But that's fine with me, cause men poop different from women and I have no interest in cleaning that mess up! He can keep his paper and we like to joke about the quartly toilet paper run! |
