Hmmm... interesting thought! You could definitely write up a post and send it either to myself or Jennifer and we could post it with credit to you. If you'd like to be a regular poster, I could set up an account for you after a few posts were made through us. How's that sound?

We could do it that way, but I was actually hoping to drive more of the conversation to here in the forums. For every post, I intend to start a thread where we can discuss more. What do you think? Do you think it's better to have the conversation on the blog itself?

I think with people being used to commenting on blogs it would be nice to be able to comment there. Not sure if you can do both, but I think it would be nice to be able to comment on the blog.

I like the idea of driving the traffic here to the forums to chat about posts and can also see how some might not like that because they are so used to posting in the blog itself.

IMO it depends on who/what the blog is for, where you want the conversation to take place, and how much conversation you want.
If the blog is primarily for current HC forum users then it makes sense to direct the conversation here. I think there's a better chance for long conversations here than on a blog, as many people comment on a blog once and don't look back.
On the other hand, if the blog is intended for SEO purposes, and to drive non HC users towards HC, you may want to allow comments on the blog. Not letting people comment or forwarding people to the forum to comment could frustrate visitors who don't want to "jump through hoops" before posting a comment.

Thanks for your thoughts, everyone!
What I've done is integrate the forum thread and blog comments -- you can read the thread comments directly on the blog page, and if you want to add a comment, you do so via the forums. Hopefully that's a happy compromise
Amy Sue -- to address your great points, there are three main objectives for the blog:
1) Establish HC as the "go to" site for all things (products and information) green / handmade
2) Give everyone a chance to learn more about our awesome sellers (via seller features)
3) Generate more interaction among the HC community, both shoppers and sellers (via forum discussions)
While we're of course very interested in bringing in new shoppers, we want them to really join in the community vs. leaving a quick blog comment without registering and then never coming back.

That makes perfect sense, and since the goal is to bring people into the community I think you've made a fantastic decision to integrate the blog comments with the forum. It's going to be exciting to see where it leads!
