(other than the thigh high yoga socks I wear as leggings) I haven't kept but a single pair (that my mother-in-law threw in the DRYER).

I desperately want to knit myself some, but I am so bored with plain socks, and the couple of patterns I have been making over and over

I have beautiful fingering weight MCN here and would love to knit it up.

any links to free patterns you love with cables (prefer cuff down by far) ??

I have been searching ravelry and none of the english patterns have stood out to me

I love this one

but I'm not sure I am in love with the foot part, and it doesn't work for self-striping, so

I often just take the stitch pattern and throw it into my own plain vanilla pattern.

If you search my favorites for free socks, there are a few that I haven't tried, but want to. I think they are all cuff down.

started the par5 socks and am most of the way done with the leg on one and realized it just says "work your favorite heel" and then doesn't give pickup instructions or how to decrease the foot ...maybe too vague for someone as type A as me... but I already have a couple hrs in and want to finish. i love the k2,p2 heel shown but not sure how to get that effect. i havent experimented much with different heels or pickups and decreases... i love the way the cables look though
