I've been spotting/bleeding since 5.4wks. Last Wednesday 11.6 wks I had gush of blood and bleed heavy for a good twelve hours. We had our NT scan on Thursday and both babies are doing well. MFM saw the two SCH, but no real explaination to the heavy bleeding. The bleeding has slowed down but still have gushes most days. Today I went to my final RE appt and he states I have partial placenta previa on my right by Baby A which is causing my heavy bleeding. REs u/s are so quick and I'm staring at a tiny screen, I have a hard time believing the MFM wouldn't of seen the previa and said something. I'm glad to have an explanation for the bleeding, but so ready for things to improve. I get so worked up everytime I use the restroom. I have my 1st OB appt tomorrow and will discuss with my OB.

Anyone have Placenta Previa and have any advice?

I had Placenta Pervia with no bleeding. I went to my 20 week US and they found it, than re did US a few weeks later and said it moved and all was well. At my 36 week US they found it was STILL there and it didnt really move because if they move up they dont move back down (thats what the Dr. said). I ended up having a C Section Sad I think I should have had a second opinion from a MW . 9 months later and Im still very angry over it all!

I was monitored with my first as I was close to having placenta previa, but it moved in time for me to give birth naturally. I didn't have any bleeding though, so not much help.

I had placenta previa with my 2nd. I was put on bedrest and had a 3nd ultrasound at 28 weeks to check on placenta, which was still low. Contractions during the last month pushed the placenta up though, and I was able to avoid a c-section.

I didn't have any gushes, but spotting for the 2nd trimester and part of the 3rd.

I had placenta previa with my first. I bled off and on throughout pregnancy. I was in and out of the hospital because it freaked me out, but by then end I knew how to monitor things (light bleeding from doing too much, stay home vs. going through 2 pads an hour... go to the hospital). I was on bedrest from 4 1/2 months on. My placenta never moved and I had to have a c-section.

Not sure if that helps or not, but its possible to have a completely normal full term pregnancy with placenta previa. Hug

Thank you everyone, pregnancy is suppose to be easy shrug

Sam thank you, you really hit things on the head for me. My REs nurse made me feel stupid last Wednesday but I was soaking thru pads like you 2 a hour or more, I didn't want to go to ER and be poked.

My concern is this all started right before 12 weeks, I know only 1 day before but everything I find only states 2nd/3rd trimester. I know my chances of having vbac are slim with twins. I will be okay with c/s almost believe that might be best anyways. Just want to get them to term and avoid NICU. Need to make a list to discuss with my OB so I don't forget.

The bleeding would stress me too Tammy!! Although I do have many friends who have had bleeding off and on all throughout their pregnancy and no complications!

Hoping you get some more answers from your Doctor today!

A VBAC with twins has not been ruled out even with a similar new wrinkle. The PA (OB was in surgery this AM) said that she had placenta previa with her singleton and that by her 20 week anatomy scan, the cervix was no longer covered by it due to the expanding size of the uterus and the fact that the placenta is the size it will be for the most part by the point where we are. The crazy thing... I had a scan 8 days ago with my OB and she didn't say a word about placenta previa. Good luck with the OB appointment today.

I didn't have placenta previa, but my understanding is that this early in pregnancy is usually too early to worry. It moves up most of the time, IIRC.

But, I hope you can get things settled down so you don't need to stress so much. Bleeding like that would freak me out to so I understand your anxiety.

Oh it can DEFINITELY still move. My OB did scans until the very end of my appts to be sure mine hadn't moved.

I'm wondering if you are having bleeding earlier because there is more baby taking up the limited space already so things are happening sooner than with a singleton???

Don't overdo anything, relax, put your feet up and rest if you need to. All those things we worry about - laundry, clean house, dishes... they will wait.

HUGS!!!

Sorry had to chuckle Sam, my poor house is a disaster zone. I haven't folded or put away laundry in two weeks, can't find my couch. Dh is trying to help but just isn't the way I like it. My appt to see OB is at 5:30, leaving shortly.

LOL. I do understand, really, its so much easier to say that actually do.

I didn't have any other children when I had PP, but my husband and mother took over and made me live with my Mom because I wouldn't sit down and rest. So then I followed her around for 4 months. LOL

I had it with my 2nd and it corrected itself at 36 or 37 weeks. Peri found it at 17 weeks and didn't mention it because they usually correct themselves early on. I had ultrasounds every 4-6 weeks to check it. Never had any bleeds and he said mine was complete not partial. Still ended up needing a csection for other, unrelated complications though lol. You have plenty of time for it to migrate!

Thanks ladies

Had a good OB appt yesterday, thankfully he wasn't to backed up with patients and seen him pretty quickly. Avoided the cultures and things because of the bleeding. He tried to find the babies with the doppler but they weren't cooperating real well, he would find one and then it would move on him. He offered me an u/s today and I jumped on it.

Went this morning for u/s, I love their tech, she is great and takes her time to answer all my questions she can. I don't have placenta previa. It looks like my two SCH have merged into one big bleed. Because of this It looks like I'm carrying triplets, the bleed is as big if not bigger then the babies. OB was not in the office this morning, she will discuss with him the results and they will call me if he wants to do anything different then I'm already doing. Don't think we can do anything different. I do feel better, but have to learn to relax and not get depressed everytime I see blood.

bummer about the big SCH, i'm not sure which is "better" to have that or the placenta previa - i'm sure neither are really a "good" thing....
I'm glad the twins are doing so great, hope the bleeding lessens a lot for you so you are able to relax a little, i'm sure anyone would be depressed & freaked out at the sight of that much blood, no matter whether you "knew" what it was from or not...
