So no way could I afford to buy a waldorf doll for dd but I really want to get her one for Christmas so I was thinking about making one but I have NO CLUE where to start

There is places you can get kits, sometimes there is even co-ops for kits. I think the name of the one i've heard is "dancing rain dolls" or something? Maybe try googling it.

Dancing rain dolls is no longer in business. There are kits at Weir Dolls though. If you join the waldorf doll forum, (I will post the link if that is allowed?) there are tons of great ideas there! Or PM me, if you want the link! Wink

Weir is good! They have awesome doll skin fabric. I use it for my dolls. And Susan, the owner, made dolls herself for 20 years. http://www.weirdollsandcrafts.com/
