Im a little concerned that this could be twins again. I wasnt worried at all after I saw the first ultrasound.. one baby. No worries. Neither of us have a history of twins.. and the twins we did have came via IVF.
Well that all changed on Monday.. when the midwife I work with decided to measure me. So the rule of thumb is 4cm over and its probably twins.
I measured 2cm over... but I also have a tilted uterus.. SO that COULD be off a little.. meaning.. it COULD be a tad bigger. then again.. it could be that Im a little on the um.. "fluffy" side LOL.
Oh lord.. well.. Ultrasound on Monday.. and Im going to make sure she cruises the whole belly! I think many mamas who have babes seem to measure ahead early on. You could just have a big baby!
I measured waaay over 26 or 27cm at my 20w check with my second ds. He was just a huge baby in the end, but I got the oooh it's GOT to be twins, off to an US immediately routine.
I'm wondering if this is going to be a small babe as I've been right on the two times I've been measured and am the smallest I've ever been. But, I've had multiple US and he's always RIGHT on for dates. _________________ Holly

I'm measuring big too but my Dr. isn't worried at all. I measured about 21 weeks at 17 weeks. I'm not quite 4 1/2 months but I look like I'm closer to 6 months. If I had to guess it's just because we both had twins our last pregnancy and considering your twins were only 11 months old when you got pregnant your uterus didn't have time to recover. If it is twins again, then it is and I'm sure you'll do great. I know it's not what you want and I completely understand because I feel the same way but the way I see it, if I have twins again, at least I know what to expect this time. _________________ Amanda, wife of 1, mom of 5

I don't know ... my longest labor was my smallest baby - my second, at 6lbs 13oz, took 12 hours to arrive - twice as long as my first baby! I wasn't expecting that. My 9lb 4th baby had a 2 hour labor and a 2 push birth. I never measure right on either, and I have a tilted uterus too apparently; I guess that plays into it somehow. When you think about it, how could women and babies of so many varied sizes grow exactly the same, 1cm per week, anyways? We don't. Anyways, hope you get the news you want at your u/s! _________________ Jody

I think your body's just used to stretching out. Plus I've noticed once people have twins once they kind of always have that in the back of their head. :-) _________________ Mother DD '07 and DS '09

I never delivered twins but my 10lb baby was my easiest birth. Now, my 7lb babe - not so much! Don't let size scare you _________________ Erin - Proud wife to and Mommy to Peanut 10/03 Bug 05/06 and Pumpkin 07/06/09 |
