I am so excited! I finally am getting into a CSA this year! Every year, I have to go to the farms and get left over picks bc hubby always waits forever to cave in and join and then there are no spots left. Well this year.. I um.. joined on my own LOL nyah nyah

Luckily it wasnt one that we have to pay all up front for and can pay by the week AND it runs twice as long as the others.. so Im stoked! LOL.

Do a lil happy dance with me! Peanut Butter Jelly with a baseball bat!

Yay!
I just learned our local CSA now does home delivery. They also offer lots of other products to add on to your order like organic eggs.

We have organic produced delivered weekly from a local company, but they are a company who gathers produce from various farms locally and nationally to get you the most variety.

How long do yours run and how much are they? We only have one in the area and I'm trying to decide if it's worth it.

Erica, a CSA is a "Consumer supported Agriculture" program. Here's ours- it's just a couple of blocks from our house. This explains it a little bit.

http://simmonsorganicfarmri.com/csa/

Ours is $405 for 22 weeks but I only signed us up for a "couple" package instead of a "family" since I've never signed up before!

Dang. I wish. They dont offer couple or family packages here. I just know you get loads of food. Which is fine by me as I can either freeze or can the goods for later. The only other they offer is $329 for a half share which is 13 weeks.

I just came across one locally and it looks like it's $800 for 28 weeks. It's split up into spring, summer and fall though and you can pay weekly. I don't think I'm going to do the spring and that part is $200 but will definitely do summer and fall.

Awesome!

If you don't have a CSA in your area, check www.bountifulbaskets.org for produce too Smile

JUNE! We signed up at Simmons Farm too! We're doing the family and the meat. I'm super excited! The CSA in Hawaii was mediocre (at best). I've heard great things about simmons from some of the other military spouses here.

I was going to ask this too! Over here it's the Child Support Agency - which has a really bad rep. and is supposed to take money from one parent to give to the other when parents have split and can't agree finances.

Your CSA sounds way better though lol
