Sooooo, it looks like my wonderful OB will more than likely be in Florida instead of here with me in Texas when I go into labor... which would leave me at the mercy of the horrendous staff at the hospital he works at. His reasons are very good and I don't begrudge him that at all. But now we are working out plan B and it looks like I may be opting for the homebirth I'd originally hoped for. We meet the midwife my BF recommends on Monday evening. A crazy series of events played out today that just seem to be pointing us that direction and I have always been a big believer in listening when fate speaks.... DH is very nervous after almost losing both the baby and I last time, but I know in the end he will be very supportive once all his questions are answered. _________________ ~Melissa

Wasn't it you who had the OB who said he'd never missed a birth? I guess something came up? | Yes, but his wife is dieing and he has to fly her to Florida for special treatments the last week of every month to try to save her - can't much begrudge a man that. So I have to understand that reason - and as it turns out - everything did happen for a reason!
I went and had an interview with my best friend's recommended midwife at her birth center. She did an indepth pelvic exam while I was there to see if she could determine any actual pelvic issues etc. My pelvis is perfectly normal! AND - Drake is already engaged at 0 station, fingertip dilation, and she said my cervix was nice and mushy!! Can I just tell you how happy that makes me??? She had initially said to be prepared for a January baby but after the exam she said she no longer felt that way Because of how full her December is we will be doing a birth center birth rather than home birth which would have been my first choice, but the birth center is really nice and homey feeling. And the birth tub is like nothing I've ever seen before... Its 18 minutes (going the speed limit) to the nearest hospital should I need one, but I don't think we'll need it. And we will no longer have to worry about fighting tooth and nail to prevent interventions! She isn't used to having a doula present because she normally provides those services as well, so it will be different for her to have extra help that is not an apprentice.
She wants to see me weekly from now on, and has started me on Gotu Kola to help relax any scar tissue adhesions that may exist and a really good uterine toning formula. Other than that still doing the EPO schedule and just hoping this baby comes somewhere close to on time
Can I just tell you how much better I feel about all this now!? _________________ ~Melissa
