Does anyone here see a natural doctor? I've recently gotten fed up after a few years of what feels like being blown off by my "regular" docs. It feels like a vicious cycle of "Let's see how that works for you & we'll follow up at the next visit & go from there." Well, I've been "going from there" for a few years & sincerely feel like I'm getting worse. I believe starting with no meds and moving to more than 20 a day can attest to that (not including anything I may need to take for pain as needed). I started taking my hubby to appts with me so that the docs could have another voice to hear (for me) and it still felt like a repeat of many past appts. We came home that day and I basically broke down & refused to take any more of my medications. I just felt like if the doctors aren't taking an active stance in fixing me, then screw it, I give up too. Against his not being in agreement, my hubby is willing to support any decision I make since he sees me suffer daily.

After thinking on it a bit, I thought that maybe a natural doctor would be a better option, or perhaps utilizing a natural doc in conjunction with a "traditional" MD... I'm curious to hear FB about anyone that does use another form of medicine & if it works, if you use it alone or with an MD, etc.

We use homeopathy (have done so with a homeopath and self-treated. We've also used phytotherapy (herbal medicine), consulting with a trained herbalist. Both have worked very, very well. Consultations take time, but are very thorough. We've treated all sorts, from eczema to anxiety. We've also seen osteopaths. My mum sees a kinesiologist with good results and has seen a chiropracter for years.

How do you find out where to go/who to see?

Ah, I'm in UK. I look in the local phone book or online. Different practitioners have to register with governing bodies here, or at least have their names registered with where they did their training and I'm aware of some of the places that are legitimate.

I've read that there are only 14 states in the US that license natural doctors. I do live in one of them, however, I don't even know if that's a fact (about the licensing).

I was actually really lucky to find a naturally-minded MD who does family practice. Both Pirate and I see her.

You could always check MDC forums for your local area, to find a recommendation. That's how I found my doctor.

Yes. DH has a whole team from MD to ND, to chinese medicine. I believe he would not of lived to see his surgery date if it weren't for this awesome team. But he most definately would not have lived at all without the surgery. So while I do believe and embrace natural medicine there is defiantely a time and place for western medicine. Like everythign it's all about balance.

We have many modalities here in Jackson. Each one carries their own wisdom. You may search online for a homeopath or naturopath in your town and local area and see if anything comes up.
I am not sure they are totally legal here, as midwifery is illegal here unless under the umbrella of an OB/GYN but if you have a medical diagnosis already there are things those trainings could provide without breaking the law I am pretty sure

I started using a homeopathic doctor when my "real" doctor told me that I would be sterile if I didn't have an exploratory surgery for infected tubes/ovaries. She had me on 6mths of anti biotics and just couldn't figure out what the cause was of all the pain.

I went to the homeopathic doctor and after a few pellets of sepia I was feeling back to myself after 40 minutes. I was sold!!!!
I now see the homeopathic doctor with my little one exclusively. Most things I can head off at home by using the pellets and some research. I have done some online courses and have learned to recognize little things like an extra cuddly child that needs pulsatilla, or a fussy teething child that need chamoilla. Some things are just a classic key note that indicates the remedy.
I never travel without the remedies
