If you want easy to find Blue Moon Fiber Arts is fabulous.
Work your way down. Don't start with a fine fingering. Use a heavy sport or light dk.
I personally love bamboo blends or cashmere blends or silk blends.
I also like a nice tight twist. _________________ Becky's Paper Creations hc

Good thread, b/c I was thinking of ordering some Selah from MM in her pre-order. But I haven't knit socks in forever and want to be succesful with it. Which of Morwenna's sock yarns do you ladies like? _________________ Jennifer * *Crazy busy WOHM who loves her DH, kids, and KNITTING!**

For the best non striping/pooling colorways I love WSK or CWC Lauren. They just work up perfectly everytime! _________________ Sara, wife to Anthony, and mom to my little Mischief Makers Nathan, Noah and Elise

I just started knitting with a sport weight ZENnegan cashmere blend that Jenn gave me for the SFY swap. I'm making Duckies for myself (fairly easy and mindless knitting when I'm catching up on Bones). The yarn is DELICIOUS. _________________ Elly

I really like Blue Moon Fiber Arts, the twist on the yarn is awesome and they have a lot of different weights. If you order directly from their site they are all custom orders and they are pretty fast with it too. I'd start with the heavyweight or something that calls for 3-4 needles. Don't be like me and start with a lace weight yarn. _________________ Christina: Wifey to Mike. Mama to Spencer (9), Gavin (6) and Mattingly Grace (3). |

I really like MM merino/nylon fingering. It feels nice and works up very nicely.
I also have some sugarbubbie, but I haven't knit it up yet because I'm waiting for the exact right pattern for the colorway because I love it so much.
For non-HC, Patons Kroy is pretty cheap but pills horribly and doesn't feel nearly as nice in the hands as the HC yarns and higher end LYS yarns.
I'm currently working on a pair for DH out of Trekking from Zitron. My SIL suggested it as a hardwearing yarn (you know men ) so I expected it to feel crappy, but it really isn't. I haven't finished them so they haven't been washed, but SIL says it softens up nicely.
I have a few pairs that I've knit from 100% superwash merino. And although they feel very nice, they seem to pill more than the nylon blends. I have an alpaca blend that I love to pet but I haven't knit it up yet. Feels heavenly in the hands, but I don't know how it works up or if it pills a lot.
Beware the sock yarn addiction. It will catch you by surprise. We'll welcome you to the dark side once you fall. _________________ Kristina, wife to Ben, homeschooling, SAHM to 5 beautiful kids.
