HC has always been like that and for a LOT of us... that's why we are here. There are tons of other places that you can talk about whatever you want but I personally don't think taking foul language out of titles is a big deal  . We don't even have to have titles... it's supposed to be a fun thing. We can all be Maxed out Hyenas

I have no interest in swearing or cussing, that's not me. The only time that I ever swear is if I'm frustrated beyond everything and have nothing intelligent left to say! lol!
I was meaning more along the lines of the threads that end up being full of double-entendres....you know the ones....the ones that end up with 20 new title changes!
Anyway, it doesn't matter. I just wanted to clarify that I wasn't looking for a place to spew the F word.

Yes it is and I do apologize for having to be the one to decide.
The thing is, when you are invited into somebody else's house you abide by their rules. When you invite people to your house they abide by your rules.
We have all been invited into Karen's house and it only makes sense that we abide by her rules.

I may be the only one that feels this way, but I am surrounded by only children all day and all night long and am very careful about acting appropriately. Online though, If someone wants to make a funny comment about a penis or a boob, or their date with DH I want to be able to laugh along with them.
It's nice to have adult conversation, and sometimes that is what it leads into. I don't think that we have a need for a XXX forum, just something that off-colour comments and threads can be put in to save the others from viewing them. |

There was an HC spinoff board a while back- it was fun and the "racier" side of a few of us. I believe the hosting was cancelled- which stinks because it was a LOT of fun.
Also, I have to say that I really hate ho, whore, pimp- whatever. I don't think any of it's ok. I realize that I am one person- I am not asking for an exception....but my oldest is 10 and is WELL aware of what the nasty kids in school say and has heard "ho" before. When I get asked "Mom, are you a yarn ho like her ?" and my response is "absolutely not, I am in NO way a ho" it's rather annoying. I come here when my children are around....I don't fear it- but I agree that the ho titles are really not family friendly. (not to mention my own personal beliefs regarding Women calling them selves any variation of the word whore)

To elaborate on what Becky said, if you think this is censorship, think of it this way: Would it be appropriate for you to walk into a mall and start spewing swear words or start talking openly about lewd, sexual topics? Of course not. Yes, this is the internet, but it is not unlike a mall. Remember that any shopper can browse through here. The link to this forum is on every seller's site. This is a place of business. It's fun to chat, but never forget that this is an arena for many sellers' livelihoods. And HC is a "family friendly" place - all of it.
It isn't censorship when someone owns the location and creates guidelines regarding behavior there. Just like in a mall - a person is not being censored if they are asked to stop being obnoxious, they're being asked to follow the guidelines set up by the owner of the establishment.
ETA: Mama, i don't like those terms either. If you see something offensive (and this goes for everyone) please let a mod know so we can make a determination. Remember that the mods can't be everywhere all the time, and things do get overlooked.

I'm sorry for those of you that feel slighted or censored. Life is censorship. If you'd like an adult-only forum there are a thousand other forums on the internet that you can frequent.
This is a place of business first and foremost. Hyenacart carts are the main part of this place. The forums are secondary. Think of the the carts as a sandwich and the forums as the chips. They're both part of your lunch, but the sandwich is the main attraction. Do you really want your sandwiches being represented by your chips talking about a 17-year-old males anatomy? While in an ideal world, you could say whatever you want and not have it effect your business, this isn't the case in the real world.

Thats THE BEST IDEA I'VE EVER HEARD. There have been so many times when I've wanted to use the f word and haven't because I don't want to offend the patsy's on this board. I curse. In text and in real life when my babes aren't around and I know that there are other moms out there who cuss too and LOVE offensive jokes.
Just because we're moms doesn't make us less human or more....god I'm looking for a word thats actually not offensive, like less ourselves. |

I do NOT want my children reading nastiness- period. Like I've already said- I had to explain to my TEN year old son that *I* am NOT a "ho" and I wasn't happy about that.
I am NOT claiming that I never cuss- but I am sure not going to leave HC open all the time, if the f bomb is dropped all over and everyone is a ho. (I'd leave if being a ho was a requirement)
I can't believe that people are so upset about this. No one is making a choice for YOUR child. The OWNER of HyenaCart (Karen) is making a choice for HER business. She has the absolute right to do whatever she feels is best. Honestly, if it's such an issue that we can't cuss and discuss personal things (like dtd and all the details) then leave. Like Shanna said- this is a business first and foremost.

Thanks mods for all the hard choices you have to make and for keeping us in line. My kids cant read but I know I am one that doesnt like sexual references ( although it seems like it gets taken their immediately with anything said, even if not what I intended!) or cussing, I never curse and try to stay away from it on the board as well. There are lots of other forums that arent family friendly so I am glad I have HC as a safe place
