Do I brave it? I tried it out on non wool to see what it does, it's just an extra gentle cycle, and there is no spin at the end, it just drains the water out.
I was thinking I could just put some liquid wool wash in and try it. _________________ Ali, mama to my amazing Arabella 1/14/06

I agree with the others. Nothing you're attached to. Also, items that are a little larger might be a good idea, incase it does shrink/felt a bit. It might still fit afterwards. I'd like to know the outcome tho. _________________ Grace, Momma to DS (4yo) and DD (2.5yo), wife to DH (7yrs)

I'd be worried, but try it on something that is a tougher knit or interlock.... _________________ Amy, mama to Carter (1/06), Olivia (2/10), and Genvieve (9/08) |

I would try it out on a sweater that is 100% wool that you would be willing to loose. If you do not have one, buy one at Goodwill. It would be worth the $2 to make sure it doesn't ruin something you love. _________________ Leah, mama to Anjali and Navya |

Ali, I wash ALL of my wool in my washing machine. On my machine it's not called the Wool Cycle, it's called Hand Wash cycle, so I dk if it's different than yours. But I don't think twice about putting everything in there - even $100 knitteds. I did a test the first time though, with something knitted that I wasn't afraid to lose . It came out fine (obviously, or i wouldn't do my wool that way now, LOL). I use the cool water setting. I should also add that my washer doesn't have an agitator. It's a top loader that works like a front loader. Is yours a FL?
they come out super clean and in perfect condition. I also dry them in the dryer on a rack. _________________ Cars From Papa - heirloom-quality wooden toys

Yeah, mine is a FL. I'm not brave enough for the dryer rack, although I've heard great things about that!
Ok, I'm glad to hear someone has done it and it works.
Do you just use liquid wool wash?
I'm going to try a couple of things that I won't be upset over if they felt a bit. _________________ Ali, mama to my amazing Arabella 1/14/06

I've washed mine in the washer, no problems. We have a fl and I do a cold water setting and the hand wash cycle. I also dry them on the drying rack in the dryer on cold . But, yeah, I'd do a test on soemthing you aren't attached to first. _________________ Erin - Proud wife to and Mommy to Peanut 10/03 Bug 05/06 and Pumpkin 07/06/09 |

Yes right now I'm using 1/2 cap of Eucalan but I just ordered some WOW liquid from naturally luxe, mainly b/c i want the wool to smell yummy and I love Whitney's stuff.
the dryer rack is awesome! My dryer has an ultra-low setting that is very gentle. I dry for 20 minutes, turn it all inside out, and do another 20 min. or until dry.
oh, and my washer does spin at the end of the cycle, and that's nice for shortening drying time.
The only problem I have with the washing machine is that it rinses. So I try to catch it between the wash & rinse and then reset it to just spin. That way I don't rinse out the lanolin in the wool wash. I forget a lot though. _________________ Cars From Papa - heirloom-quality wooden toys

I was always too chicken to try it in my FLer. But I also enjoy the ritual of washing in basin with wool wash and making my hands soft and smell good. _________________ ~Whitney~
