My dad had surgery a few days ago to take out the infected port, and his pneumonia has been breaking up. He can't cough so nothing can actually come up. The breathing treatments and antibiotics are helping. They come in and pound on his back a few times a day to help break everything up in his chest. So, looks like he's going to recover fully and will be getting a newer, better quality IV port put in once he's completely recovered.
If you all could be praying for my daddy, he is very sick. He has been quadriplegic since I was 1 and usually has to go into the hospital for UTI or kidney infection about twice a year. When he had to cancel his trip down here this week to go into the hospital we figured it was just more of the same.
Turns out he has pneumonia so bad it has traveled to his blood and made him septic. He also has a UTI and the port in his chest used for IV medicine is also surrounded by infection and will need to be taken out.
I talked to him this morning and after 6 days of albuteral breathing treatments he finally coughed up a small amount of congestion. Pneumonia is one of the two main killers for quadriplegic patients due to their inability to cough productively and clear their lungs. He's pretty nervous, though he pretends not to be. He has already lived 20 years longer than they expected him to, so he always feels like he's living on borrowed time anyways.

Praying for your whole family. The thought of losing my father terrifies me and makes me tear up. Considering his heart attack and 2 strokes, we knew even before being told that we're on 'borrowed' time too, so I can empathize. <3
