I'd really like to start juicing. I have no idea where to start looking, other than sturdy and easy to clean. I guess something similar to what is used in a Juice Bar? But where the heck do I get one and which kinds are best?
Oh yeah! I'm in Canada.
I'm hoping HC Mamas with heaps more knowledge can help educate me.

Update:
I've decided! I'm going with an Omega BMJ330! We just ordered it AND a food dehydrator today! I'm soooo excited! YAAAAAAY!

What dehydrator did you get? I was just looking into getting one. We moved to a plant-based diet and a lot of raw recipes call for a dehydrator.

We have had the jack lalane (spelling) juicer forever and are soon replacing it with something called a vitamix or something like that. My mom does all the research and then buys them for us as combo birthday/holiday presents.

juicer juice just rocks! you'll love it!

Our favorite so far is ABC (apples, beets and carrots), but tonight I did an ACC (apples, celery and carrots) that was a huge hit. YAAAAAAY!

Our dehydrator is an Excalibur 3900, 9-tray. We got both our juicer and the dehydrator from Juicers4Life. It's free shipping within Canada, which is really nice. It took 4 days to get to us in Calgary from Toronto. The shipping on both of our boxes was more than $60, so it was nice to have that included. YAAAAAAY!

Oh that's the dehydrator we were looking at! You may have just sold me on the free shipping in Canada!!

I haven't tried beets in any of our juices... i bet DD would like them just for the added colour! I'm going to try it!!

Thank you for that link! It's a great site. I'm looking at their wheatgrass trays too and a soymilk maker (but I think the new juicer does milks too).

It's amazing how different our kitchen is compared to what I grew up with (deep fryer and fondue kits)! ;-)

We have a lalanne juicer, bought over a year ago. It's great for beginners but I will likely upgrade soon. I'm glad I found this post as we've been considering a dehydrator

We love this dehydrator! My middle DD helped me do a couple of trays of banana sticks the day we got it. They were super-yummy the following morning, kind of crunchy and chewy at the same time, but extra sweet. Great if you like bananas like we do. wub

The 3900 comes with a recipe book, too. I'm so excited to make vegan yogurt with coconut or soy milk, and there are recipes for yogurt-making with this particular model. YAAAAAAY!

The beets make such a gorgeous pinky-purple, and add a sweet, earthiness. I'm sharing our adventures and recipes in juicing and vegan-eating on my veggiewitch blog

We just made the switch to vegan in December... I started a detox diet and LOVED how amazingly energized I felt so I essentially continued it only to learn that is what "vegan" is... I just called it "elminating the things that weigh me down".

DH switched to vegetarian - he couldn't quite give up dairy and eggs, but after I showed him some TED youtube videos and "Forks over Knives" he has agreed to try vegan.

We both want to do some physical exams now so that we can see how we compare in a few months.

I've already lost weight (not that I needed to lose anything), but I think it was all just sludge.

Look forward to learning more from you and chatting!!!

I started to cut-back on the amount of meat I was using about 4 years ago. Initially it was to save a little money. LOL My mister was hesitant at first, but he adapted. We were semi-vegetarian the whole time. Last November I decided I wanted to stop all meats and dairy, but my mister wasn't for it, so I had to "bide my time"

This past January I put on "Foodmatters" and watched it with my mister. It stated everything I had been talking about, but the movie "got through" to him. We watched "Forks Over Knives" the next day, and he was SOLD! He used to say I was nuts to want to be vegan, but now he's all for it.

I was concerned about getting everything we'll need protein-wise, so I ordered some spirulina and wheatgrass powders. In an effort to make it easier to get into the munchkins, I've mixed it with some fruit powders, too. I either mix it with the veggie juice or put it into the fruit smoothie. So far so good.

We get some funny comments from people (my MIL and SIL LOL ), but it's ok. They'll get used to us.

I was originally looking for one of these, but couldn't for the life of me find one. Embarassed ...then I stumbled upon the US-based site, www.discountjuicers.com, and he had heaps of models with loads of info and YouTube demos/ "juice offs" between them. There was a "juice off" he had between the models we were actually torn between, which helped make our decision.

It's funny how the movies got to the guys!

Our grocery costs increased at first too... but now they are coming down now that we are experimenting less and the "new normal" is kicking in.

I'm not needing to buy as many vitamins and supplements as we did before. I'm not needing to buy coffee anymore (have enough energy) and all the fixings for coffee. It's starting to balance out $$$ wise.

There is a book called How to eat Vegan on $4 that looks interesting to me. Have you seen it?
