I'm just wondering who likes to knit one at a time and who likes to do magic loop? I like magic loop because I know the legs will be the same length... Sounds dumb but the one time I tried one at a time I ended up with one extra row somehow... _________________ Jenny

I'm knitting my second pair with 2 circ's instead of one leg at a time right now. I'm not sure if I like it better or not. It seems to take me longer, but that could just be my imagination _________________ Katie ~ wife to JD. mama to 3 amazing kiddos!
Will knit for trades! I'm looking for Cestari or MMR yarn specifically, but try me |

I use magic loop for a lot of knitting, including socks. I usually just end up counting the rows because I never put much thought into knitting them at the same time LOL. My longest interchangeable cable is 40" so maybe that is why I haven't done the legs that way. I like a little extra cable _________________ Brittany~nursing student and SAHM to Cole 3/1/03 (autism), Jaden 8/31/04, Cameron 4/8/09, and Skyelar 11/8/11

I used to swear by one at a time on my 12" circs, but since I started doing socks two at at time, magic looping, and I tried it with longies legs, I won't go back. When you're done, you're done...no going back to complete the other leg, and yes, you guarantee the length of the legs are the same. _________________ Jennifer--wife to Bobby (5/09), mom to Lorynne (6/05), Nolyn (7/09), & Loghyn (1/12), 2 cats, & 1 dog

I use magic loop. Honestly, it's the method I learned on and I haven't branched out. _________________ Kate

I'm about 50-50. Sometimes I like to ML and sometimes I do one at a time and have to take the extra step of double checking the row counts before the cuffs. Kinda depends on my mood, I guess.
Ditto for sweater sleeves. Currently, I'm in a ML'ing mood on the rainbow sweater I've almost finished for DD. _________________ Nisha -- Calico Cottage Designs mama of 2 boys 1 girl a and a lab

Sounds kind of mixed, but seems like lots of people like ML. I think I'll just stick with that. Nisha- I didn't even think about sweater sleeves! I'm still working on my first sweater and haven't gotten to the sleeves yet, lol... _________________ Jenny

I used to do the legs one at a time until I had a pair of longies I was doing for someone in a trade and they didn't send me enough yarn. The project ended up being capris instead. That's when I decided to learn how to magic loop the legs...and have, of course, used it to make socks and other things, too.
I actually thought about magic looping sleeves recently...never heard anybody say they did it or that it was something that was being done!...but may work in figuring out how to make it work and try it myself. _________________ ~Mary, Mom to N, grandma to R (10/08), E (4/11)

So, do you graft the crotch before or after the legs??? _________________ Jessica~WAHM to Julianne 5-19-07, Jocelyn 8-10-08 & our new sweet baby Jacqueline 12-30-10

I magic loop and graft the crotch after. I can't quite figure out how to pick up the stitches around the gusset with ML'ing, so I just do it after.
I do, also, ML sleeves. Same reason as doing the legs, they are the same length, and when you are done, you are done. _________________ Shannon, wahm to 7

I have always done it before....much easier for me that way Then if I have any holes, I do duplicate stitch on the inside to close them up. _________________ Brittany~nursing student and SAHM to Cole 3/1/03 (autism), Jaden 8/31/04, Cameron 4/8/09, and Skyelar 11/8/11
