My Mom gave me a "Two at a time Toe Up" sock book for Christmas - because she had heard of my single sock fatigue syndrome I guess... lol I thought it was only fitting then that the first project I made from the book (and with that technique) would be a gift for her. The colorway (Fall Magic by MM) is maybe just a little busy with the lace pattern, in hindsight, but it looks even more so in the picture than in real life. Either way, I think it still works. I *loved* working with the Montana Targhee sock yarn, and I expect it will wear very well. It's really soft and squishy on the foot too.

I don't have sock blockers, so they're modeled on my own feet, which are a bit smaller than hers -- I expect they'll look a little better on her. I found it difficult to capture the color accurately - maybe because of the purple? Anyways, here they are:

Also, this is kind of silly, but it was fun to see - you know when you are in Ravelry, and you click on the "People" tab - it gives you a few random favorites and then a number of recent FOs? Well, one of my own projects was in the Random Faves *and* the Recent FOs, which gave me a :D (does that make me a ravelry geek? or just a geek in general? lol )

Well, I do it two different ways. If I happen to have Picasa open (the free download from google for photo organizing and basic editing, love it) all I do is push the button on my keyboard that says "PRNT SCRN" and it automatically saves a picture of whatever is on my screen in a folder under Picasa/Screenshots. Love that. Otherwise, I open a program called Snapashot, which pops up a little frame that you can adjust to the size you want and save wherever you want on your computer right from there. I have Windows XP, but I hear that Windows 7 has a Snipping Tool function that sounds quite similar to that.

Beautiful socks! How did you like the 2 at a time/toe up? I have made a couple pairs the old fashioned way and keep telling myself that two at a time has to be better. :D

I love the Targhee sock. I bought tons of it in the fall/winter while Morwenna was phasing it out.

Those socks are beautiful...and how cool to have 2 of your items show up on Ravelry at the same time like that!

Thank you! :D

Ellen - I love toe up, but I *hated* the two-at-a-time at first, because it was complicated with the cast-on and toe increases, I thought, and then it took for-eeeeeeeevvvvvvvvveeeeeeeerrrrrr to see any progress! But once I got used to the rhythm, and figured out how to keep my skeins from twisting around each other, it really was okay. I will probably do it again. The nice thing was it made the lace easier to memorize, since by the time I got to to the cuffs, I was doing the same 30 stitches 4 times in a row.

Mary - I know right? haha my dh didn't get it at all. Silly man.
