my in laws are here from Idaho. I picked them up from the airport yesterday, and I feel like i am back on the farm. They will be here for 2 weeks, and after just 1 day, i have all these idaho-isms floating around.
This morning, I was told I will have a cold soon, because I went out in my garage, ( for 2 minutes) with wet hair. I told my MIL no, I will get a cold because SIL brought over her SICK kids last night, and it will have nothing to do with my hair. HAHA.
UGH, it is going to be a Long couple weeks. From the unsolicited parenting advice, on how i need to let D scream, until he falls asleep, because he still wakes all night. To There is no reason for my son that only grunts and says mama, at the age of 21 months, to have speech therapy. And how i am just expecting too much out of him. It is so annoying.
I have to keep reminding myself that it is only 2 weeks. and when they bu a house down here, they will not be in my house all the time. This is soooo fun!
1 day down 13 to go. HAHA
I have amazing repect for those that live close to their inlaws, or worse, live with them.
( and as i say this, i will still say i have pretty good inlaws. I have heard nightmare stories, and mine are pretty good) _________________ Melissa Mom with 11 kiddos. 4 who run on Earth, 7 who soar with the angels.

I feel for you, Mama. If my FIL is here for more than 4-5 days I go crazy and his typical trips are 10 days. (He lives in CA, we live in IA). Our "relationship" is damaged beyond repair and I start counting down the days until he's gone as soon as he announces that he's purchased plane tickets. Hope I don't sound too awful. =/
I hope the next 13 days go quickly and they lay off the parenting "tips" so you're able to enjoy your time with them. _________________

Very very true.
They are very good people, and they leavfe us alone pretty well, it is just so hard sometimes. It is hard to hear people being critical of your parenting, and insinuating they are spoiled, because you are AP. Because, you know, when their kids were little........ LOL
I will get thru it. I am happy we are so busy with our homeschooling co-op, and girl scouts, that we wont have to be at the house the entire time. _________________ Melissa Mom with 11 kiddos. 4 who run on Earth, 7 who soar with the angels.

I'm sorry I hope I wasn't coming across rude. I was really just trying to be supportive. My MIL used to try and take DS away from me when he was crying to try and soothe him. I know all about those critical parenting comments and advice. Those "when their kids were little" comments drive me nuts.. I feel like screaming , "hello, times have changed since then, yes you did what you thought was best then, but now let me do what I know is best now" _________________ Megan

See for me that's what so annoying about my MIL, all the things that are fairly aggravating in dh are hugely magnified in her and obviously inherited from her. Being around them both drives me right out of my mind. I can handle them separately but together I want to strangle one of them. (either would do) _________________ Mother DD '07 and DS '09
