So this is my 6th child but I have an issue. This time around I have had swelling in my hands for about oh a few weeks. I wake in the morning with a painful wrist (my left hand & I'm right handed) I'm really thinking its Carpal Tunnal but pregnancy induced? Anyone ever had this? Then the other day I picked up my 2 year old who is 30lbs and my wrist snapped. It didn't hurt to bad but has been sore ever since. Last night in bed I rolled over and it popped hard, enough to wake me up and it still hurts real bad today. DH tried to rub it and flex it but it keeps cracking every time its flexed Anyone have a clue as to what is happening? I see my N/m tomorrow... |

Yup, pregnancy induced carpel tunnel is actually pretty common. I got it BAD with #3 and only mildly with #4. Not at all with any of my other pregnancies though. I could ignore it and some Tylenol helped with #4 but when it was bad I actually had to get special braces to wear. I couldn't even grip my fork some days and it kept me awake many nights. _________________

do you have any numbness? if it is carpal tunnel you will have numbness in your thumb, pointer middle and the side of the ring finger facing your middle finger, but the other side and pinky generally dont numb up. the wrist popping sounds more like a bone/joint issue to me -- could you see a chiro to adjust you and your hands? for the swelling (i had it with my last 2 pgcies along with my chronic carpal tunnel probs), i had acupuncture done and did hot and cold water treatments and epsom salt soaks. _________________ my name is bond, my name is bond. james bond, james bond

I was going to suggest a chiropractor too. I have had wrist problems (not carpal tunnel and not pregnancy related) for years. I took medication, even had surgery and nothing worked.
A couple of years ago I took my DS to a chiropractor in desperation because he just wouldn't sleep. She did wonders for him. During one visit she asked me how I was doing and I just happened to have lots of wrist pain that day and mentioned it to her. She told me she could fix it, did some things with my wrist and elbow and voila, the pain was GONE!
Since then I've only had pain once and it was after I leaned on it and tried to get up the wrong way. A good chiropractor really is a miracle worker, especially when you're pregnant! _________________ Natural Mama to three. |

Hhmmm No numbbess, tingly sometimes at night or morning when I wake up. I hope whatever it is will go away after the baby is born, I'm going to talk to N/M tomorrow about it. Both hands/wrists/lower arms feel weird to me right now, I hope its nothing bad!
