So what are you doing for Thanksgiving?
Normally we go to my Grandma's where she hosts the annual Thanksgiving Day feast with all the trimmings. 40 of my immediate family members all packed in one small house eating and digging through Black Friday ads to plan their attack. I am used to the craziness it but even after 10 years hubby is not
This year though I will likely be in the hospital and I told hubby to skip my family, take the kids to Boston Market and come visit me. He is thrilled!!! _________________

Our family is all flying distance, so we are staying home and having a small but yummy (and still to be planned) meal. _________________ Kristin, SAHM to an amazing four year old, and a giggling 9 month old |

I will be working as much as I can, so DH will be doing most of the cooking. We are having some neighbors over whose house is being worked on so they can't have Thanksgiving at home. _________________ ~June

Last year, we went to my mom (also my grandma and papa's) because it's hard for my grandma to get out (walker/wheelchair/general health), but she asked if we could do both Thanksgiving and Christmas here and she would get out for it. Primarily because we have 2 SN kids, one that get overloaded pretty easily so she felt he would be more comfortable and feel more in control here. Pretty thoughtful of her, I think. Any time she goes out of the house is an event. She usually has to rest for a at least a day or two after every time. _________________ Kristina, wife to Ben, homeschooling, SAHM to 5 beautiful kids.

We're staying home and having dinner with just our family. Dh is coming home on Wed. night and is staying through early Tues. morning, so we have a busy weekend planned. After Thanksgiving dinner, we'll go see the Harry Potter movie and then go to SIL's for dessert. The next day, we're driving to my dad's and staying overnight there. Then, we come home and get our Christmas tree and spend the evening putting it up. _________________ Kim

Thanksgiving is the one holiday we have vowed to be together (immediate family) so we rotate who hosts it each year between my sisters and I.
So this year we are heading up to northern Wyoming (by Cody) to be with my sister Sarah and her family. My parents will drive up also and my youngest sister and her husband are flying in.
14 people (6 of them children), 1200 sf house, 1 bathroom, 2 large dogs, 2 guest dogs, 4 full days...PRICELESS!!! Oh and for the actual Thanksgiving meal we will have 6 extra people from my BIL's family! I am seriously EXCITED! _________________ ~Sam Trent

Good call!
We're going to the in-laws. I'm bringing a big bowl of kale salad, because I'm SOOOO not into southern cooking. _________________ It's Rebecca, Amish-in-another-life...

Nothing! My DH works a regular day and when he gets home we will have our turkey dinner. We don't have family that is anywhere within driving distance. _________________ Jessica~WAHM to Julianne 5-19-07, Jocelyn 8-10-08 & our new sweet baby Jacqueline 12-30-10

We are going to my Mother In Law's. She is a good cook, but she has a birth defect in which her leg is missing one bone and it causes her a great deal of pain which in turn makes her quite cranky. I am understanding about it, but it would be a lot more fun if I could spike her drink or something. Heck, if I were in chronic constant unrelenting pain, I would definitely be self medicating. Well actually I don't even have chronic pain and I self medicate anyway. Maybe I will get a bottle of baileys and get her to try it? She is pretty staunchly anti-liquor although she has on occasion tried sweet wine. I mean we are in the Bible belt here and there is a definite old school attitude about it.
Anyway, so she was griping to hubby that there would be a lot of people in the house and she didn't know how she was going to get any cooking done, so I am slated to make the rolls, and 3 pies. YAY. That means I get to cook on Wednesday, then we will drive up on Thursday morning, bring in the goodies, and then I can GO FOR MY RUN! I am outta there. I definitely need to make a beer run before we go though. _________________ Mom of lots of things - 2 kids, a dog, a frog, and grudgingly 3 cats.

DH is always working in California for t-day week. So, I'm used to him not being home for that (or my birthday which is the day before). But this year, my oldest DS will be in Texas as well. He's spending time with my dad/step-mom this week and then going hunting with my dad next week. It'll be great fun for all of them, I'm sure. But that leaves just me and the two younger mini me's here.
So, we were invited to go over to the house of the wife of Dh's co-worker (who drove with DH to CA) for t-day dinner. I think it's my job to make green bean cassarole and some pie. LOL. _________________ Nisha -- Calico Cottage Designs mama of 2 boys 1 girl a and a lab

just going to stay home with the boys and maybe eat some pizza...LOL. Dh is deployed and family is all far away.
I've had a couple of informal invites from friends here, but it's not really a big holiday for me given that I am Canadian....and ours is in Oct. I don't feel it's a big enough deal that I'd want to impose on another family and their get together. _________________ -Sarah
