I went in Monday for my regular weekly visit and NST. Baby looks great and I feel pretty good overall. The diabetes is well under control, BP is good and so is urine. Problem is the fluid just keeps building.

So the dr. and specialist said it was time, the more fluid that builds up the worse it is for baby. The specialist had the talk with me on Thursday about heading to the hospital the moment I even thought I was in labor or having contractions, even if it could be a false alarm. She stressed the importance of not waiting at home because of the risk of placenta rupture and cord prolapse. My regular ob laid it straight on Monday. She said the more fluid builds up the more problems and the higher risk of not only the placenta and cord issues but of still birth. She asked if I was having any problems at all (since I am one to let things go thinking they are no big deal) I told her my only complaint is breathing difficulties. I said it felt as if I was always having a minor asthma attack, like a weight was sitting on me. I so thought it was no big deal, honestly. She said that was part of the fluid and it was time for baby to come on out, the fluid is just going to continue to build. She asked me if I wanted to come in this Thursday (as in tomorrow) or I could wait until Monday for the amnio. I chose Monday and of course have to go in Thursday for another NST.

So if the amnio is fine Monday (and they are pretty certain it will be) then baby will be arriving Tuesday the 23rd. If the amnio shows lungs are not developed then I get to wait a week, likely in the hospital so they can watch closely. The OB said they will check position at the amnio and if baby is down great. If baby is at least transverse side to side they will try to flip at induction. If baby is head up then they will try to flip in the OR where they will also set up for c-section just in case he doesn't flip and/or there is a "complication". I am fine with whatever way he needs to come out but I am thrilled they are at least trying to get him out vaginally.

So in 6 days I will likely be having our precious little man. I will update as soon as I can, I will be in the hospital about 5 days (their average guess) with all my devices (Yay for free Wifi!) so I am sure you won't have to wait long for pics and updates. As nervous as I am, I am so excited to meet our little man and hold him in my arms.

Now to get everything situated on the home front.

It sounds like you are in good hands and in a good place mentally to handle it all. I will keep in my prayers and focus on the least difficult and most positive outcome for you both Smile

Woo!

Now, I know I don't need to tell you...but be MINDFUL of yourself and your body in the next week. Like they said, little twinge in your belly or a vague itch on your nose...GO IN!!!

As for his position...is it possible to flip him, then break your water ASAP so he can't swim back up? You know, with the fluid building, he pretty much has free reign over what he wants to do, right?

I'm excited for you. We fully expect real-time updates, so practice typing with one hand while you're grunting, k? lol

Oh I am second guessing every movement and feeling just so I don't "miss" something. I have only gone into labor on my own once and that I missed so many signals that when I went for my induction I was dilated to 7 and in active labor, oops.

Yes! they hope he is head down but if he is not he needs to at least be sideways for them to break my waters and flip him down. If his head is more up (it's been in the left rib area) that's when I will be sent to the OR to turn him and if it works then they will break my waters so he can't move back.

Don't be shocked if I do give real time updates LOL Sounds out of the norm but I do just fine with pitocin and last time spent my laboring looking for recipes and emailing my mom bugging her to make cookies LOL
