Becky sold me White Queen Gothsocks in Asphodel. Since I have bought the yarn I've decided socks are not my thing, I have 3 pairs on needles and haven't finished any of them. I searched raverly and came up with this pattern http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/swirl-hat-3

Decided to make this hat for my Aunt Dean who is fighting Ovarain Cancer and sadly will probably need more chemo shortly. I love how the pattern turned out and excited to do more hats with fingering yarn that I have in my stash.

The hat is a little tight for my big head and very thick hair. I think I'm doing something wrong with YO, don't look as big as the original picture. Any suggestions for what I'm doing wrong? I have watched youtube more then once and think I'm doing it correctly.

It looks great.
Are you sure it is smaller than it is suppose to be? Chemo hats are meant to fit tight over no hair, so I am guessing it will be perfect for her.

Thank you Becky, I'm just comparing the pictures of this hat and there is a bigger YO, I feel mine are hardly noticeable.

I think the stripes hide them. I also think you would want them smaller for a chemo hat.

I think it looks great too! If you wanted the YO's larger you could always do two wraps and then drop the extra one the next round like a drop stitch scarf??? I think it looks great like it is though Smile

It's so beautiful!!! I saw a women with a crochet hat this week at the hospital who has cancer, the hat was fitted tight so I am sure it'll fit your aunt just fine Smile

It looks great! You may be twisting the YO in the next row. I can't really tell from your pics or not. It looks to me like you are doing it right. Make sure you aren't knitting through the back loop of the YO. Smile
