If he's not afraid to sit on the big potty, I wouldn't even mess with a potty chair. Just get one of those seats that you put on top of the seat. I've tried potty chairs with all of my girls. It wasn't until I just let them use the big potty with the kid seat on it that they seemed to take a big interest in it. But, that's my experience. Others might have a different idea. _________________ ~Lisa~

I agree with Lisa - some kids like potty chairs, some don't. My DD only wanted to sit on the toilet (with a ring to make it smaller), while my DS really loves his Bjorn chair (the same one you linked to). I think my DS feels more secure on the Bjorn since he can easily get on and off himself, and have his feet flat on the floor. When he uses a regular toilet, as soon as I put him up there, he always says "I fall down! I fall down!" even though I'm holding him up. (Then he smiles and says "I gotcha" - he doesn't *really* think he'll fall)
My DS is 26 months and 30lb, and the Bjorn is great size-wise. HTH! _________________ Allison

I would consider a stool and one of those seats that goes ON the potty. Both of my boys were much more interested in that approach than the chairs we wasted money on thinking they may work. All they really needed was to feel like "big boys." I do confess to keeping a potty chair HOWEVER it's only b/c the seat comes out and attaches to the regular potty and you can then fold it down and use the bottom as a stool. We never used it for the actual potty chair (which is an option) but it was cheaper than purchasing a stool and seat separately. |

I got this one but with a blue seat for my DS

Actually, he sorta picked it out. He looked at it and said, "Frog! Potty!"
I wasn't going to get one at all becasue we have a special toilet seat with the little seat built in. He wants nothing to do with it. He feels scared sitting on the big boy toilet. So, for now. he tries on his little frog potty and he actually wants to. _________________ Under the Hill Crafts

we skipped the potty chair too. That's one more thing you have to get them off of later. It's much easier to pop a folding potty seat into the purse when you go out and then they can use any big toilet. _________________ Crystal WAHM to Emma & Liam, loving wife to Scott.

Thanks!! I never would have guessed to jump straight to the one on the potty. I love being able to ask you ladies DS doesn't act scared at all when I've put him up there even without a smaller ring in the toilet (you really have to hold him though haha). So I think I will just go that route. Thanks again! _________________ Christa

I too have never used a actual potty chair. We have 2 of the seats for on the big potty that we use. We have a potty chair but it stays in the car for those in the middle of nowhere I NEED TO POTTY moments! _________________ WAHM to Araya 10/04 and Nevaeh 3/07 and Carter 9/08
