Update:
Lette is 39 months now and we are still working on going to the potty. She STILL wants to go and now refuses to wear diapers, I dont pressure her but she is in dance and has to be potty trained to be in dance so she does know if she wants to stay in dance she has to pee in the potty. She is still holding her pee all day long as well. We bought the 3 day potty learning technique book a week or so ago and we are on day three of that today. She did pee twice during the day today, one of those in the potty, but she is still holding her pee. And she tells us she has to pee about 50-60 honestly times and only 2-3 of those times it actually comes out. She goes to the potty 5-6 times in a row only to have an accident a few minutes after she gets off. I just lovingly give her encouragement and tell her to keep trying and to keep telling me when she needs to go. I am with her 24/7, I sleep beside her bed. What should I do?
ETA: Ruby is almost PL'ed as well LOL she is catching on a bit faster than Lette!

I am very frustrated. Lette will be 3 May 10 and she is no where near using the potty. She was *very* close when she had just turned 2 but we had Roo and that messed everything, potty learning wise Wink, up! I need tips, badly. We have tried naked. We have tried underwear. I have tried stickers and potty dances. I tried sitting with her on the potty for extended periods, I have tried taking her every hour. I know she will go when she is ready but she is SO upset she cant do it Sad She tells me that she wants to pee in the potty but she doesnt know how Sad She will sit on the potty and scrunch her face and say " I'm tryin" I dont know how to help her!

When she's naked or in underwear, I'm assuming that she isn't staying dry then-- I would put her in underwear, keep a small potty right with her and watch very carefully for the underwear to get wet and direct her to the potty right next to her. You can also do reading time on the potty- we used to grab a big stack of books and just have the kids sit there while I read and read and read. Eventually someone will go, though with us it was the 15 month old and not the 3 yr old I was trying to PL.

We do both of those things Smile we have multiple potties stashed around the house ROTF We do reading time on the potty as well Wink And it is funny you said that, Roo is 15 months and she has peed on the potty twice Wink I told Lette Roo will be potty trained before she will LOL
Thanks for the advice!!

Have you also tried upping her drinks? If she's drinking tons, she'll have to pee a lot more and she's bound to get it in the potty once. I think that the first time is the hardest, but then things kind of click for them. My two older kids both didn't PT until they were 3.5 and they did it all on their own. Tyler is nearing 3.5 and he refuses to PT, but he will occasionally go into the bathroom and use it on his own-- and he will even take his poopy diaper off, spray the poop into the toilet and put the diaper in the pail and then try to wipe himself off. I don't even know what to do with him- it's obviously a control issue with him, so I'm just letting him go when he wants to and keeping him in diapers. shrug That's sort of OT. Oh well.

My kids were all over 3 before we even started. and it was pretty easy, once they made the decision.

THere is always candy bribery. LOL m&m 1 for pee 2 for poop. LOL

Also, you said she is really upset because she really wants to. Is it possible that she is upset and really wants too, because that is what you and dh really want, and she really wants to please you. If she is trying and trying but "cant" or doesnt know how to pee on the potty, it is possible she just isnt physically ready. As much as she wants to wear cute undies and have her parents be proud.

Just a thought.
I know it is frustrating! I thought my oldest would never learn, but she did, at about 3 years 4 months, and it was just like a flip in her brain.

I completely agree it could be b/c she wants to make us happy and she isnt really ready. Is there anything I can do to help make her ready? She already only has maybe 4 wet diapers a day and is dry during naptime...

Try turning her around backwards on the big potty. Facing the tank. That is what worked for Beka. She couldn't figure out how to make the muscles work to push the pee out. By turning her around backwards it made it harder for her to hold it so the pee just came out and then she was able to figure out exactly what was going on.

It works with boys too. At least if Adam's aim is off all I have to clean is the back of the toilet rather then the whole bathroom. :D

Good luck Angel- Amelia was so far my hardest- she was potty training when Macie was born. It took a couple months for her to get excitied about it again, but once she was ready it went quick! Macie just turned 3- she has been potty trained for a whole year, and it just happens that it was not me, but her who decided. I didn't think it would stick as I was pregnant with Ellie, but she never went back Smile Amelia is easy going and sensitive, and Macie is my cranky, OCD child.

nak - sometimes it helped my kiddos if i ran water while they were on the potty. lol but we also waited a long time and never really did much in the way of training. they just did it when they were ready. once they're ready, they just do it. no training required, ime

Ava turned 3 in March and has no interest at all. Abbie and Andy were both 3 1/2-ish as well.

If she's not ready and interested, theres no sense in forcing it. Its like trying to put a round peg in a square hole, so to speak. Just won't work.

There is a window w/ kids somewhere between 18 months and 2 years where they are really interested. If you catch that window, great, but if not.....gotta wait until they show interest again. ;-)
