Did anyone use one of these tummy belts after your c-section? I'm interested in getting one, supposedly it supports your incision and decreases healing time. Any reviews?

Also, just 88 more days to go! Disbelief

No, I didn't use a belt. My incision healed *fairly* quickly...I can't remember how quickly now. It's 4.5 years later though, and the redness from the scar is about 50-60% gone. There's just certain spots that are still pigmented. Some portions have disappeared entirely. I need to send my doc a thank you card, she did a great job!

How soon could you walk without pain? Did you ever have issues with the incision opening? (sorry if thats a big graphic Embarassment, but Im very curious).

Well, they encourage you to walk within like 12 hours or something post-op. It hurts like an emeffer...no lie. PAINFUL. EXCRUCIATING. Let me say it again: IT HURTS LIKE AN EMEFFER.

But. The more you do it, the sooner you feel better. True story.

It's all a little fuzzy now, but I wanna say I was in the hospital 2 days? 2.5 days? Then I tried to walk around the block about a week after I had her, and really felt like crap the next day. You can tell if you're doing "too much" based on how you feel the next day, if you have an increase in bleeding, etc. I would say a couple weeks to be "without pain" but the first week was tough because the baby's not pressing your belly muscles out anymore, so then your back picks up the slack, so then your back is killing you.

Laughing hurts. Rolling over in bed is nearly impossible. You must plan to use your arm strength. Using a pillow pressed up against my belly felt good to stand up, to cough, to lay in bed so my saggy belly didn't pull down on anything. DH was a super big help with helping me sit down on the potty the first couple times, and holding Madi while I got up, sat down, etc. It's those little things that really make a difference.

The actual incision opening? Ummm, I had steri-strip tape keeping it closed when I went home, and I was totally fine with that staying on for a year if the glue would hold. There was a couple little weepy spots where the tape was further apart, or had fallen off so I know the tape was good stuff. So keep that on if you can. I can't remember the regimine...bacitracin? Some sort of cream to put on there, but I know from going to school the longer you can keep it moist/not scabby, the better off your scar will be.

Oh, and I do remember I did have a belly band from when I was preggo, and it was just too much pressure post-preggo...

I used one with both Alekzander and Emersyn and I loved it. I agree with Rebecca, c-section aftermath HURTS. Does not matter how many times you do it either (I kept getting told the 2nd does not hurt as bad...not) but I noticed a big difference in my mobility ability with and without the belt.

There were days that without it on, I could not move without wincing and bending over and after I would put it on I could move around much easier..still hurt of course, but not near as bad IMO.

88 days...WOOHOO!! How exciting!

I never had one and I have had 3 c-sections. My incision was closed within 10 days, left the hospital with only slight swelling and by two weeks baby belly gone. I have never had my scar open up or anything.
As far as walking I felt the pain was minimal if I got up and going within hours of being able to feel my legs. Good luck

With Mollie on this one. I have had 3 c-sections with no problems. Get up and walk when they tell it is okay and take the pain meds! I was back in full force within 1 week each time, laughing is the worst part! Lol

I never had a support band. With my first I had an emergency c-section and it was the absolute worst. The second was planned and not as bad. The third I went into labor but ended up having a c-section and the pain was about in the middle. My best advise is to remember to take your pain meds. Don't wait until it hurts because you get 'break through' pain which really absolutely sucks. In some hospitals they only give you pain meds if you ask for them so keep track of your dosing schedule and ask for it.

Also, I had pretty bad back pain because I was using my back because my ab muscles couldn't do the work. Sitting in a supportive chair when you nurse helps a lot. Also, don't twist your midsection when you move. Especially when getting out of bed. That will help too. If you have a recliner you can sleep in for the first few nights when you come home that will help too.

I think just remembering to take it easy and not to do so much will help you recover too.

Congrats on only 88 more days!

I think I missed the point of the question,LOL!

I have no idea if it helps heal you faster...I just like how it felt to have it on versus not.

Yes- laughing hurts, and jumping outta bed to quick, just roll and you will be good:) Same as Leah a week and I was back to doing somewhat normal things. I think I was 3weeks post op with Ellie and I was mowing the grass.

No personal experience...but my BFF had one for her third (all 3 delivered via C-Section) and she swears by it. She said this was by far the easiest recovery.

i had 2 c-sections- had the support thingie, and loved it. helped make me feel like things were being held in, and supported me a lot. i agree- get up as soon as they let you. i even asked to get up sooner with ariana. my 2nd one hurt more, but that could be because they stitched each layer of muscle, not just the outside, and i had my tubes tied. all in all, it sucks, it's surgery recovery, but i also have nothing to compare it to, like tearing;) oooh- also, take the suppository (tmi whatever). everything stops up when you have surgery, and THAT is the part that hurt the worst with my first!

Well I've had 4 c/s. Never used the belt, so I don't have any experience there. Honestly, everyone's pain tolerance is different, but I make sure to get up and walk AS SOON AS POSSIBLE and I have myself weaned off the meds almost before I leave the hospital.

I don't think the pain is that bad, but everyone has different experiences. My incisions have never opened up or anything like that either.

HTH!

Another c-sectioner here. They provided a belt thingy this time, but it got in the way more than it helped and by 2 weeks PP, my scar was flat and healed.
Get up as soon as you can, and take the stool softener, my 1st c-sect was an emergent one and the 1st BM was seriously more painful than 20 hours of induced, failed labor shocked
