Ok, I voted for onesies because I hate picking up one of my kiddos when it is cold outside and having the shirt ride up. Must be so cold for them. When it is really cold, I have to have something tucked in myself or I feel cold. So, I put onesies over her wool wraps last winter. As long as they weren't too tight, we rarely had wicking problems.

That being said, I have decided to use longies alot this winter - both wool and fleece. I'm on the lookout for cute shirts to go with them. DD will be 2 in December.

We didn't switch to CDs until Nicholas was about 8 months old. Until then, onesies worked great, but not so much once he was in cloth. They don't allow enough room for the bigger booty. Wink

Another vote for shirts.

I had the best luck finding non-onesie newborn shirts at the kids consignment store. Smile

Or-- Ruskovilla makes merino onesies. There used to be a diapering wahm who carried them I thought? It's been since my now potty learned toddler was a babe since I was hunting for them.

All about the shirt here! I have all of Xander's from nb size to whatever he was in this past April. I have summarily cut the tails off of every single one of them and hemmed them to make tees for Bastian. He was only ever in a onsie while he was a teeny tiny nb (even the nb ones were huge on him, lol).

I hated cotton onesies on DD but I also didn't like her belly to get cold. So I started making wool onesies for her and they worked perfectly. I make them so they are nice and loose around the thighs so there's no wicking. I need to make some for baby #2. They are just perfect with longies.

(FYI: I'll be stocking wool onesies and wool snap-lap tees at my next stocking 10/13 Wink )

I like shirts. I use onesies now and then, but I find they have to be a size bigger to work, otherwise they get stuck between the diaper and my daughters legs!!

shirts for the most part, although she does have a few onsies just cause they were cute. but we do have to be careful about wicking....happens sometimes if i don't watch it.

oh and newborns - i loved teh side snap tees that gerber makes! only had 3 but i used them over and over again.

I loved onsies when Brooke wasn't in cloth. Once I put her in cloth it was harder to make them fit. If I have a second child I won't waste my money on onsies this time.

Onesies with AIOs or envelope diapers.
Shirts with fitteds/wool (except for wool pull-ups that go under anything).

I just bought onesies in a larger size. Actually I use a larger sized any type of clothes. Larger pants even fit over a knit soaker.

DS had a granulation at his belly button, actually he still has it a little bit, and I didn't like his pants riding up and rubbing against it with shirts. A onesie kept the pants down (and didn't see to rub against it as much). I have some 2T onesies he will still be wearing this winter. I like it when he wears mini-me clothes with DH, but I also like the baby-looking clothes. I even put DS in peter pan collars and jonjons. Embarassed Does anyone sew anything like that here?

Sorry, I digress...

I really don't use onsies anymore since switching to cloth. The only time I use them is if my ds has a AIO on.

I hate onesies.

I kept Emily is shirts... it makes it so much easier with cloth. We were usually coverless, so if I used a onesie it would have gotten wet.
