At Natural Madison, we understand how much of an investment wool items can be for the cloth diapering family. In order to preserve your precious wool, we have carefully designed products using only the finest natural ingredients available. We use only pharmaceutical quality lanolin, the same kind used by breastfeeding mothers, as well as natural organic oils and plant based ingredients. Some of our products are scented, to make washing and caring for your wool a pleasant experience. The fragrances and essential oils we choose are both gentle and safe for use on wool.
We currently offer three products to care for your wool: Signature Wool Wash Bars, Creamy Wool Wash, and Lanolin Spray. Our wool wash products are made to be tough enough to get out the worst stains, yet gentle enough to use daily on your most precious fluff. Our Lanolin Spray is made with a blend of natural oils and lanolin, which will make your wool feel softer after use--unlike some pure lanolin sprays that can leave a sticky after feel.
We have supplied hundreds of families and WAHMs with our products, and have received positive feedback on how much they enjoy using them. Here are a couple of our favorites.
Customer Testimonials!
Lori says,"These wool wash bars are great, perfect for scrubbing out stubborn stains, giving wool items a general all-over clean and getting to smell wonderful scents in the process."
Maria says,"I had been using Eucalan Wool Wash and just wasn't feeling the wool love, I figured it was just wool. I had actually put all of DD's wool away and figured I'd never use it again.
Finally a few weeks ago I pulled it out along with your wool wash and washed them. I'm amazed at what a difference it made! They are so much softer and more absorbent now. I love it!"
Q: What's the difference between your wool wash products?
Wool wash bars, liquid wool wash, and lanolin spray all have unique and common
qualities. Foremost, all are designed to care for your precious wool. They all contain an
ingredient called Lanolin, which is a sticky substance that is derived from wool. It naturally protects and provides a waterproof barrier for your wool. Why do you need three different products if they all have lanolin in them? Read on...
Wool Wash Bars are essentially and "all in one" type product. They wash and lanolize your wool in one easy step. Cleansing your wool is important, as urine can breed bacteria, and the acidity can destroy your wool. The lanolin in the bar adds a waterproof barrier.
Liquid wool wash cleanses the same as a bar, except it is in an easier to use liquid form. Our liquid Wool wash is creamy and light, which is perfect for more delicate wools, such as Merino. It also provides a waterproof barrier with lanolin.
Lanolin spray is an extra step for protecting your wool. Our spray contains both natural oils and lanolin, so that your wool will still feel soft after use, unlike some pure lanolin sprays that leave wool feeling sticky. Lanolin spray does not clean wool--it only adds a waterproof barrier. This is good for use when you are in a pinch, between washings, or need an extra boost for a heavy wetter or night time wear.
Q: How do I use a wool wash bar?
Using a wool wash bar can seem like an intimidating task, especially if you have never used one before. They are actually fairly simple to use, and have superior lanolin protection.
Just follow these easy steps to cleaner and softer wool:
Step 1:
Fill up a large basin or sink with warm water(not hot!). Use your wool wash bar to create suds in the water. You may find it easier to gently rub the bar against your wool to create suds. Also use the bar at this time to gentle rub away any stains.
Step 2:
Continue to clean your wool and swish it around slowly in the warm water. You may let it soak for up to 15 minutes if you wish to soak up all of the lanolin.
Step 3:
Rinse your wool under warm water(not hot!) to release any leftover soap. Gently squeeze out the excess water and lay your wool flat on a dry cotton towel. Roll up the wool in the towel and allow to dry. Spray with Natural Madison Lanolin Spray for extra protection if desired.
That's it! You can use the same steps above with our new Creamy Wool Wash.
Q: Why has my lanolin spray separated into two layers? Is it still safe to use?
Our lanolin spray is a water and oil blend, which normally do not mix together(think of how some salad dressings can separate, it's the same principal). We have added an emulsifying ingredient to keep the two together, however some separation is still normal. Just give it a good shake and you are ready to go. If you find that your spray is a little too thick to shake(cold temperatures can do this), simply run the bottle under some warm water. You can cover it in a plastic bag so that the water does not ruin the label if you want. DO NOT MICROWAVE. The bottle is not microwave safe.
