About KK play food

My play food is different than much of the crochet play food available currently. Typical crochet done in the round leads to unsightly seaming and it is not appealing to me at all. Amigurumi (Japanese crochet in the round toys or small objects- all based on mathematics) crochet is beautifully seamless and the technique I prefer for all my crochet toys of play foods.

Amigurumi tends to give the finished object a more realistic appearance and holds shape wonderfully well. In the addition of rounds or color changes, there may be slight jumps in pattern lines, but this is typical of Amigurumi and still much prettier than those silly seams. ;)

Handcrafted play food is an excellent option for playthings as they stimulate imaginative play & encourage girls & boys alike to play in the kitchen. Not to mention in these items, you won’t find lead or other dangers for your child. I have yet to have any issues with my foods falling apart, but please be sure to examine the toys every so often to be sure nothing is coming lose, or other safety hazards.

If you find your item has need of repair. Simply email me: itransgressed@aol.com & we can work out how I will fix your item or whether a refund is in order,

To wash: Fill a sink, bowl, or basin with lukewarm water. Add some mild detergent (dish soap works great!) & swish into the water bath. Put your foods into the bath, making sure they are fully immersed. Allow to soak for 2-6 hours, depending on the amount of soiling. Take food items out & wring GENTLY. Be careful not to rub your foods as they are made of fine wool yarns and have tendency to felt.

Let dry on a towel, preferably in a windowsill for speedier drying.

In the case of string appearing, it sometimes happens after some amount of play an end or two will work loose. You can snip them, leave them, or take a needle to wind them behind the stitches as they were previously. Ends working loose will not affect your handcrafted food. =)
