Peasant Smock & Reversable Pants
Pattern #201
With 2 little guys and a little girl growing so quickly, I began to wonder how mothers kept up with clothing their growing children back when there were no sewing machines. I've been a longtime fan of vintage clothing design, and while looking through a book of old mid-1800's photographs, I came across one of a couple of small children. One was a girl, and the other a boy, and both were dressed in long, dress-like tops that pulled up around the neck. Both also wore simple pants underneath. It seemed so simple! Why were we trying to dress our little boys and girls like little adults, when what really mattered was comfort and adjustability? Seeing this need, our Smocks & Pants pattern was developed. We tried to keep it as simple as possible, both to sew and to dress with, and feel confident that we have accomplished our goals with style and simplicity!
This is hands-down the best children's pattern I have ever worked with! The instructions are clear, easy, and well laid out. The patterns are high-quality paper that is so much more durable than the flimsy tissue paper ones at other stores. The fit and function of the smock and the pants both is pure genius. I made a full set of smocks as nightgowns last year for my daughters, and this year they are STILL wearing those same jammies as long shirts or with pajama pants.

The genius of the smock pattern lies in it's simplicity, ease of use and it's versatility. We are big fans!

I cannot stress enough how much I love this pattern. It's easy to do, brilliant, and not really scarey once you get going. Can you believe I've been afraid of trying the pants? They're not any more difficult than any other pants I've sewn! My girls love their smock and pants sets so much, they choose to sleep in them as well as play.
