I'd go in expecting it to take longer and to have to ask for updates near the end.

7 custom Spring Moondrops
Customer service: Communication was great while we set up the details. Berrie worked with me to put together a list of Spring Moondrops. They were to be for Easter baskets, so I thought ordering 2 months in advance was plenty of time. I paid on the 21st of January. On Feb. 13th, I inquired about the status of my order. I was told that they should be in the mail by the end of the week. On March 1st, I inquired again as to the status, and was told that she was done with all but two items from my order and that they would be in the mail the following Monday. On March 11th, I still hadn't received any shipping information, so I inquired again. She said they were shipping that day. The moondrops arrived on March 17th, and I received 5 moondrops from my order, and 4 that I did not order. I emailed to inquire as to where the missing moondrops were and why I had received items I didn't order. Berrie explained that she had attempted the other two, however, they didn't turn out right. The extra moondrops were meant to be substitutes until she could finish the remaining two. If I didn't want to wait, she'd gladly refund me for the cost I paid for the two missing items. The extras were mine to keep. I opted to wait for the additional two, and they were shipped later the next week.

This is the second time I've ordered from Berrie. She does fabulous work. Her sewing skills are superb, and my kids love their "gnome babies". While I will probably order from her again in the future, I'll make sure I plan accordingly time wise. |

That came and went, and when I would contact Berrie, I would get different responses on the progress of the dolls. Several times, I was told the were going to ship that week, and they never did. I finally recieved the dolls in mid-December, after emailing several times and stating that they were my daughters' Christmas presents, and that it was imperative that they get here in time.

My son had very specific ideas about how his baby should look, and Berrie was so attentive to details (and respectful of his demands that no one laugh at his odd requests). Communication was great -- Berrie kept me updated at every step of the way and sent the cutest little note to let us know our ninja doll was "stealthily making his way" to us.
The doll was finished and shipped exactly when Berrie promised us it would be, and actually arrived faster than I expected, given the geographical distance he had to travel. This was a wonderful buying experience for us. I'm so glad we decided to place another order with Berrie; she exceeded my expectations!

I am not happy at all about this- it's been 2 months now and I've not even gotten a notice for the shipment of the replacements.

The shirt is cute as are the ghost and gnome moondrops. The pants however are unwearable. The back doesn't even cover DD when diaperless or with a paper diaper- nevermind cloth and the front rise is between her belly button and nipples. Due to the construction of the pants- they'd have to be completely re-made as the panels are part of the pants themselves and not just sewn on. I am very unahppy with them and I am unable to use them as the gift they were intended to be. |

This is the 4th time I have ordered from Moonchild Studio, and the first time I have been disappointed by the customer service.
I originally placed the order for this doll in early September to order a doll for Christmas for my 18 month old son. I paid the deposit at this time and choose skin/hair/eye tones and clothing colors. Berrie was very attentive to detail and wonderful to work with. She responded to all my questions quickly and helped me choose the style of doll that would be right for my child. I paid in full on September 27th.
In October, I contacted Berrie to find out what the time line on the creation off this doll would be. I contacted her through Hyena Cart PM and she responded quickly that it would not be ready before November. As Christmas was still several months out, I was fine with that answer.
When November rolled around, and I hadn't heard anything from Berrie, I PM'd her through HC again, asking when the doll would be done. This was on Nov. 29th. She said the doll was finished, save for his hair and clothes, and would be done by the following week and shipped.
Two weeks passed and I had not heard from Berrie or received the doll. I contacted her through HC PM, but did not hear a response. After two days, I contacted her through an email address provided to me by another HC member, and she replied promptly that the doll would be finished on that Friday and shipped. This was approx. three weeks after I was told in our previous discussion that the doll would be shipped.
The doll was shipped on Friday as promised and arrived safe and sound today. I am very pleased with the doll, but disappointed in the lack of communication and forthrightness from the seller. All communication was initiated by me. No explanation or apology was ever given for the delay in finishing the doll. During the time period in which I was waiting for the doll, several stockings were made on both the Moonchild HC and the Venus Vanguard congo, which was very frustrating for me.
Has I been contacted directly by the seller with updates OR had the seller given me an accurate picture of her workload and why she might be delayed, I would have been understanding and would be leaving positive feedback now. I know WAHMs are often overwhelmed at Christmas and I am never upset with a crafter who finds him/herself swamped; I am, however, frustrated by poor communication.
Overall, I am happy enough with all of my prior Moonchild purchases that I will definitely order items from Berrie again, but I will either order items that are already made or will make sure the order is not time sensitive. The doll arrived in time for Christmas and is a beautiful toy, so the outcome is positive and is what matters most to me.
ETA: Since posting this, Berrie has been very forthright in explaining how overwhelmed she became due to holiday customs. I appreciate her honesty and it really makes me a lot more eager to order from her again. Despite my frustrations with the delay in arrival of our last custom doll, we are so impressed with the doll's quality and Berrie's clear desire to do whatever possible to make things right with her customers, that I plan to order a doll from her as soon as she is open for customs again! My 7 year old son has specifically requested a doll from Berrie; he says it HAS to be from Moonchild!

Very bad. On September 12th, I contacted Berrie from Moonchild Handwork Studio about a custom order for two doll dresses for Christmas. She readily accepted my order, and the details were finalized and payment sent on September 22nd, when she told me she'd be working on a bunch of clothes the next week and she'd add mine to the pile. I didn't hear from her for a month, so I emailed her on October 29th to get an update. She didn't respond, so I emailed her again on the 31st. She responded the same day and said "I am working on your dresses and will get them out to you soon." Two weeks later, on November 16th, I emailed her again for another update. She didn't respond (again), so I emailed again on the 19th. She responded the same day and said, "I will be shipping in the next few days." Two weeks later, on December 3rd, I emailed Berrie again to tell her that if I did not receive the dresses by the 12th of December, I would be requesting a refund so I could take my business elsewhere. Berrie had been dishonest about when she was working on my order and when it would be shipped, and I was not going to wait until days before Christmas to finally realize that the dresses wouldn't be there in time. Berrie never responded to that email.
My order arrived on December 13th, and included two free Moondrops.

The dresses are very pretty and well-made, however I can say with confidence that I will not purchase from this seller again.
Edited to Add: After going back through our emails, I realized that I had originally purchased two 3-piece dress sets, and I was sent two 2-piece dress sets. I contacted Berrie and she said that they are the same price, so I won't be pursuing it further. However, the product that I received is not the same as what I ordered. Berrie offered to send an additional outfit after Christmas, but I am not going to take her up on the offer. |

I understand that Berrie is overwhelmed with custom orders and says her CS is paying the price but quick e-mails with updates can go a long way to reassure customers, especially when they see her stocking her cart and congo. Customer service: Very, very poor due to lack of communication and seriously delayed delivery.
The listing stated the Berrie would contact buyer to get details for custom. After 3 days with no word from Berrie, I contacted her to learn my options, and also let her know that I would be making 4 equal payments over the next 4 weeks.
I finalized my fabric and design selections on October 1, 2007, and Berrie said that the doll would be ready to ship by the time I made my final payment.
On 11/9 I had not received any shipping notification so I contacted the seller. She said that doll was not yet started and would be ready the following week. She said that in the mean time she had a large wholesale order that she was going to finish first.
On 11/27, I emailed Berrie once again b/c it was more than a month past the agreed completion, and I had not heard any updates or received a shipping notice. Berrie did not answer my email.
On 12/6 I pm-ed Berrie after I saw that she had stocked a strikingly similar doll at Venus Vangard. After 2 frantic Pms, Berrie responded and once again told me that my doll, which had been ordered in September, and paid in full on 10/21 was still not finished.
I am extremely disappointed with the customer service. Berrie never once initiated contact to let me know that my order would be delayed. I had to keep chasing her down. From the time I placed my order others ordered and received their items, her store and congos stocked, yet mine was left undone. As a customer it makes me feel very unimportant, and maligned.

Disappointing. Berrie noted the Moondrops would be ready to ship in a week or so. By the end of October I was concerned and had heard nothing, so I checked in and the order was not yet ready to ship (bag to be made). I checked in again November 6th and they had just shipped. I received them November 19th. One was intended for an October birthday and the others for my daughter for Halloween as her food allergies prevent her from having candy~ so this was a disappointment and I had to quickly find a replacement. Berrie was quick to respond to pms and offered freebies or refund on the gift portion in early November~ I requested freebies (waiting on this package).
The items (original order) arrived in a poly mailer with open edges (as the only seal is the sticky line on the edges) and no interior packaging to protect the items which became damp in transit.
Product Review:
I gave my daughter one Moondrop (saving the rest for Christmas) and she is loving holding it and rocking it. They are lovely colors and very well made, I am happy with the product.
Update: December 13, no contact from Berrie, no promised freebies having arrived in 6 weeks since offered.
Update: February 1st I contacted Berrie on January 14th and she promptly mailed out 3 Moondrops, cute as ever. Thank you for resolving this. |

After waiting about a week and a half I emailed Berrie and she was friendly and said that she was working on them and they would ship soon. They shipped on Oct 18 and arrived on Oct 22. I was disappointed to see that the shipping on the package was $1.30 and I paid $3.00 for combined shipping. No extra services were purchased (like delivery confirmation) and though I realize there are other expenses related to shipping i do feel a bit slighted on the shipping. I realize $1.70 isn't a ton of money but every little bit counts.

I was under the impression that they were instock, ready to go because the listing stated, "This little 4" tall Wee Beastie is ready to come and make mischief at your haunted house!". After a week and a half with no wee little beastie arriving at my door, I became concerned and emailed Berrie, who told me that they weren't, in fact, instock, but actually customs. If I had known this, I probably would not have ordered. The moondrop arrived on 10/18.
Product review:
After giving the moondrop to my son, he promptly decided the "baby needed to be fed" and smashed it's sweet little face into his pizza lunch. I took the doll into the kitchen straightaway and washed it's face with a small amount of Dawn and some warm water, like I have with all our other waldorf dolls. Much to my shock, the doll's face disappeared! I emailed Berrie, who told me that the doll's face was drawn on with a watercolor pencil, and that I could draw the doll's face back on either with a watercolor pencil or a fine point marker. She did not offer to fix it for me, despite only having the doll a few hours when this happened, which surprised me. I would not recommend these particular moondrop dolls to anyone in the under-four set because of their drawn-on features. Toddlers are more likely to stick the doll in their mouth, "feed" it (like my son did), or "give it a bath"- you will probably want to stick to Berrie's dolls with embroidered features. The doll itself is (well, was) lovely, though.
UPDATE: Berrie very generously refunded me and apologized, which I appreciate. |

The adorable little gnome's beard is made of a nubby texture fabric giving it the appearance of an authentic beard. She used a variety of fabrics giving it so much visual appeal.
