Absorbent Materials
A layer of ZORB, in the wet zone, is sandwiched between 2 layers of organic bamboo fleece. Zorb is made using bamboo/cotton/viscose and poly micro fibers, is non-allergenic, and has speedy absorbency. One layer of is equivalent to up to 3 layers of other absorbent fabrics like cotton flannel or microfiber. Bamboo fabrics are my personal favorite, being luxuriously soft, naturally anti-bacterial, and more absorbent then cotton. I use an organic 70% bamboo and 30% cotton knit blend which also provides a comfortable stretch if you decide to use this insert as a prefold. The edges are serged to reduce bulk. When trifolded and converted into the insert form, seven layers of absorbency are tucked nicely into a stay dry "topper."
Stay-dry Option
Polyester microchamois is embellished down the center of the insert. This fabric silky soft, anti-pill, and helps pull moisture to the absorbent materials and will help keep skin feeling dry. Microchamois aides in clean-up after it has become soiled, being easy to rinse and wash. For those baby's with a sensitivity to synthetic fabrics, I also offer the option to replace the microchamois with bamboo velour or athletic wicking jersey.
Unique & Versatile Design
Convertabunz™ inserts are slightly larger than an infant size prefold, measuring 12"x 14," so not only can you use this as an insert, but also as a prefold! It is simple to change from a prefold to insert, by folding in the sides and turning them into the microchamois panel. There are 2 soaker snaps, spaced 3" apart, to snap perfectly into your Bunzuke Cloth AI2/pocket diaper. When in the insert form they measure 5" wide and 14" long and can also be used to stuff pocket style diapers. The insert does not need to be "untucked" during the wash cycle, but will dry faster in the prefold form. Snaps can be added, turning this already versatile insert into the Convertabunz TM 1.0 Snapping Prefold.
The bamboo flannel has been pre-washed and tumble dried on high heat, but the insert will reach maximum absorbency after more hot washes.
