We have been making some changes at Natural Madison, including everything from the paper we print our shipping labels on to the ingredients found in our products, and more.
Natural Madison has always been known for it's quality soaps, lotions, scrubs and more for the whole family. We have always used natural ingredients that are free from harmful chemicals such as SLS, SLES, parabens, and more. What you might not have known is where we get our ingredients from. We purchase ingredients only from highly reputable retailers--small family owned business rather, just like us. All of our imported ingredients come from ethical suppliers that buy fair trade.
Recently we have made the switch from petroleum based plastic bags and containers/lids for packaging certain soaps, scrubs, and cremes, to using corn & plant based bags and containers/lids. They are completely natural, biodegradable, and come from renewable resources. For the remainder of our products, such as body wash and lotion, we use recyclable PET plastic containers. We also use minimal packaging for our products in comparison to commercial companies which are wasteful with their excessive packaging. You may also have the option of choosing no packaging if you wish for certain soaps and other products to save on valuable resources. It is what is on the inside that counts the most after all!
We have always used recycled boxes and other materials for shipping. Any plastic peanuts or bubble wrap used for cushioning are recycled from supply boxes we receive. If we do not have any on hand we will use recycled brown paper, tissue paper, or even our newest idea of fresh popcorn. Unsalted and butter free popcorn is a great alternative for environmentally harmful plastic shipping peanuts. All of our shipping labels are printed on post consumer recycled paper as well. We also recycle all of our ink cartridges after they are used up.
All in all, we are making an effort to change the way small businesses affect the environment. We hope that some of the changes we have made will inspire you to do the same, and hope to come up with more innovative and greener ways to operate our business in the future. Carpe Diem!
