Do you remember Elliebelly? In 2001, I started out with hand-dyed playsilks, handpainted children's clothing and hand-dyed yarn. Elliebelly caught on and I began to focus on dyeing yarn more and more. Some of my favorite colorways included Crayon and Retro Kitchen, and many Mamas used these and other colorways for their babies' clothing and cloth diaper covers. I loved dyeing yarn and Hyena Cart families kept me incredibly busy.
In 2009 I temporarily shuttered my business for what I thought would be three years to pursue another professional opportunity. Three years stretched into seven and then almost eight, and although I wasn't selling yarn, I continued to dye and knit obsessively, and developed a committed group of highly experienced knitters who tested yarn bases, patterns and colorways for me. Imagine that -- seven years to explore what worked best for knitters.
In late January of 2017, Elliebelly reopened! You can shop with us here.
In addition to the brightly variegated colorways you will remember if you're an Elliebelly oldtimer, there are softer new semi-solid and nearly solid colorways. I'm dyeing organic Merino and British Blue Faced Leicester yarns, along with luxury fibers including Silk, Cashmere, Linen and Alpaca. There will be something for everyone and lots of great advice about what to knit with different yarns.
If you want to be in the know on developments (and a few contests and giveaways along the way), please sign up for my newsletter and follow my blog. There is an active Elliebelly group on Ravelry where you can visit with me as well. I hope you'll enjoy discovering Elliebelly for the first time or returning to us as an old friend. I am so excited about this and hope you will join me for this long awaited reopening.
